Okay, I know we’re not supposed to be on diets. It’s a lifestyle. But maybe, just maybe, a few little treats crept into your diet over the last few weeks with the holidays. So, here are my questions.

First, how “bad” did the holidays get? Did you learn a few things about yourself, such as what was worth eating and what wasn’t? And did you come up with any strategies that worked for you to pass up some of the temptations?

And now, what are you doing to get back on track? Are you eating special foods and/or cutting out certain foods? Are you going back to the basics of measuring and logging? Are you drinking tons of Water? What’s your advice for getting back on track?

I guess I was "lucky" and having gallbladder issues, which caused my dr to want to take it out asap(had a stone the size of a manderian orange) and lots of smaller ones). I was having trouble eating anything!!! I was told no gym until my check-up (1/5)as my surgery was on Tuesday 12/29. I did manage to keep losing weight as I really couldn't eat any solid foods. I was sleeved on 6/15-down 87 pounds and am eating Protein first and very little of anything else.

I was on track through the holidays, meaning, I always did Protein forward, no alcohol and maintained my exercise routine. I did indulge in sweets that I baked, which I never do. Since the holidays are over, no more baking, so that won't be an issue.

I also added back in a 4th meal for. the day. I had cut back to three thinking I didn't need the fourth (my hunger hasn't returned). Then I noticed I was filling that space with candy, so I went back to my Protein friendly Snacks, better it be that them sugar calories.

I gained a whole pound. In the grand scheme of things I am thrilled that that is all!

I am "detoxing" from sugar and carbs from flour by going back to basics. Nothing but lean Protein and veggies, lots of Water and low/no sugar and processed food. I had let too many carby foods and sugar slip into my diet before the holidays, so to get rid of the cravings I'm going back to what I know works. I've been back at it for a couple of days, and although getting over the hump was hard, my cravings are subsiding and I even feel my restriction is better :)

I ate a single cookie on my birthday (dec 22) over the course of 5 hours or so, about 4 ounces of white whine on Christmas day, and then small dark chocolate truffle on new years eve, also over a few hours. It was the first time I've deviated even a TINY bit from my post-op diet. As such, I felt sort of anxious about these three little slip-ups, but now I'm thinking it was a good thing I let myself have a little bit of a treat because I didn't gain anything, didn't get sick because I ate/drank extremely slow, and now I feel like I had my fun and I'm ready to continue down this long road toward my goal with renewed determination.

It's a strange feeling to be able to have a treat that actually was actually just a treat, and didn't turn into a binge (or two, or 5) that made me sick and gain weight. I don't think I can remember the last time I was able to approach unhealthy, yummy food in a healthy way. Maybe never! Happy New Year everyone. :)

Back to basics for me. Focus on Protein and fluids. Upping my exercise program to 5 days (from 4) per week is my newest goal. I did slip over the holidays and am also doing some sugar detox. Fortunately I did not gain, I lost just very slowly. I am only 27 pounds from my goal weight and really want to make it there by April. Onward!

Same here - 1 pound, which is pretty remarkable.

I did drink 1-3 drinks on 10 days since the 23rd. I got a cookie craving on Christmas Day and baked some -- probably ate 10 over the last week and a half. I had desert twice at dinner parties and probably would have gotten in trouble if it weren't for my restriction. I did exercise pretty much as prescribed.

Going back to my post-opt normal diet starting today. ~900 calories a day, meet or beat my water/protein goals each day, and no simple carbs. I'm ready to make a charge at onederland and my goal of 190 lbs and a 36: waistline.

I was a sugar fiend over the holidays. Absolutely ridiculous as I used to be able to take or leave candy/cookies. Since sugar doesn't fill me up, I could self-sabotage/self-medicate myself just like the good ol' days. Luckily I only gained one pound.

Fast forward to 2016. I have removed all temptations from my home and never have a problem behaving at work. I am increasing my Water intake and re-introducing resistance training to an increased exercise routine.

Also, I start seeing a food addiction specialist next Monday. :)

Wow, I have to say…it sounds like the holidays didn’t get too bad for most of you, and that’s great! And even better is that you have some sensible – not extreme – plan for getting back on track!

Cervidae, Congratulations on having a treat, enjoying it, and stopping there! What an accomplishment, and something to be proud of and to remember when the going gets rough.

Jennolsen, Protein and fluids – that’s the right idea! Congratulations on still losing during the holidays, and being so close to goal weight!

It sounds like going back to counting, focusing on Protein and Water, and getting rid of the junk are at the top of the list.

For me, the first thing was to clean out my house to get rid of whatever holiday treats somehow snuck in and accumulated! Then I went grocery shopping for all kinds of good things, including fresh fruits and vegetables like lettuce, Snacks like carrots and grapes, and veggies to cook like broccoli and zucchini. I also stocked up on all the other healthy essentials, like yogurt, plus frozen staples like blueberries, and chicken. Now there’s no reason not to eat right!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
