YOU.CAN.DO.THIS! Think of what you'll look like a year from now! Think of everything that you'll be able to do that you can't right now. Surgery is scary.....I've had two major surgeries since 2012....but it's a stepping stone.

Hello There! I am also scheduled for January 14,2016. And also start my liquid diet 12/31! It is finally setting in that it's happening. I'm calling it my new rebirth because to me it's a chance to use it as a tool and really jumpstart being the woman I am inside. Good luck to you and we should keep eachother updated with it all. And any good tips that come our way.

Thanks to both of you for responding! I am feeling the same way - I think my body in the past 24-48 hours finally accepted that this is happening as well. The thought of the normal fatty foods I eat is making me queasy. You are both right - this is the beginning of a new me and a new, healthier life. I will definitely keep you updated and hope you will as well. 2016 is going to be our year!

Hi there! From what I understand every doctor is different so I would definitely call tomorrow and see what they say. I can only speak to what my doctor told me which was 1200 calories max and one small meal a day. Hang in there - you can do this!

I have surgery scheduled for Jan 10th.

I have a lower BMI so I was directed to only go on the liquid diet one week prior to the appointment. However I have always done really well on low carbohydrate diets in the past. Typically after being on the diet for about three days I almost completely lose my appetite. I think that having a low appetite would be really great for after surgery when I can't eat very much. So I am, on my own, going on a Atkins-type, low carbohydrate diet for one week and then I will start my liquid diet as directed by my doctor.

Good luck to you.

Good luck to all of you as well. I had my pre-op tests today - took FOREVER but at least it's all done and I'm ready to go - 6 a.m. on 1/14 I'll be checking into the hospital to start a new and healthy life. I've already started doing the Protein drinks for Breakfast and Snacks and I seem to only get super hungry at night. I got a little freaked out when the nurse was going over everything with me today and what to expect in the hospital but at the end of the day I know I'm doing the right thing and it is time. So here's to a happy and HEALTHIER new year for all of us!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
