January 14, 2016 surgery

Hi there! I'm scheduled for surgery on 1/14/16 and start my liquid diet on 12/31 - Happy New Year! My liquid diet is 4 Protein shakes or bars and one high protein low fat low carb meal. If anyone has any suggestions or words of encouragement they would like to share I'd really appreciate it! I'm both excited and very nervous! thank you!!

YOU.CAN.DO.THIS! Think of what you'll look like a year from now! Think of everything that you'll be able to do that you can't right now. Surgery is scary.....I've had two major surgeries since 2012....but it's a stepping stone.

Hello There! I am also scheduled for January 14,2016. And also start my liquid diet 12/31! It is finally setting in that it's happening. I'm calling it my new rebirth because to me it's a chance to use it as a tool and really jumpstart being the woman I am inside. Good luck to you and we should keep eachother updated with it all. And any good tips that come our way.

Thanks to both of you for responding! I am feeling the same way - I think my body in the past 24-48 hours finally accepted that this is happening as well. The thought of the normal fatty foods I eat is making me queasy. You are both right - this is the beginning of a new me and a new, healthier life. I will definitely keep you updated and hope you will as well. 2016 is going to be our year!

Hi there Leslie,im on my pre op diet as well but have only had liquids no food are we allowed to have some kinda low carb food at all i cant remember and my Drs been closed since thursday? im gonna call tomorrow but its day 4 with just liquids and its been rough...Guess i should know but been nervous since i got my surgery date of Jan 4th..

Hi there! From what I understand every doctor is different so I would definitely call tomorrow and see what they say. I can only speak to what my doctor told me which was 1200 calories max and one small meal a day. Hang in there - you can do this!

I have surgery scheduled for Jan 10th.

I have a lower BMI so I was directed to only go on the liquid diet one week prior to the appointment. However I have always done really well on low carbohydrate diets in the past. Typically after being on the diet for about three days I almost completely lose my appetite. I think that having a low appetite would be really great for after surgery when I can't eat very much. So I am, on my own, going on a Atkins-type, low carbohydrate diet for one week and then I will start my liquid diet as directed by my doctor.

Good luck to you.

Good luck to all of you as well. I had my pre-op tests today - took FOREVER but at least it's all done and I'm ready to go - 6 a.m. on 1/14 I'll be checking into the hospital to start a new and healthy life. I've already started doing the Protein drinks for Breakfast and Snacks and I seem to only get super hungry at night. I got a little freaked out when the nurse was going over everything with me today and what to expect in the hospital but at the end of the day I know I'm doing the right thing and it is time. So here's to a happy and HEALTHIER new year for all of us!

Thx so much for all your responses, spoke with my surgeon and nooooo food.lol...its day 6 and the hunger is gone for the most part,i guess its just my brain still telling me im hungrywhen im not...lol...lost 12 lbs in 6 days crazy. My surgry is right around the corner nervous and excited for my rebirth all at once.....WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
