January or February 2016 Sleevers?

Welp, the monthly support forum has not been updated for 2016. I know there's a thread somewhere for December & January sleevers, but thought I'd include you January peeps in honor of the upcoming year. Share your dates, doctor/nut/psych visits, tests, hopes, and whatever else you want to share pertaining to your surgery. Feel free to offer encouragement and cheerleading as warranted. Maybe everyone can link up with some sleeve buddies!

I'll start. I have 100 to 130 pounds to lose (no goal set yet). My sleeve was supposed to be in January. Instead, my husband needs to go out of the country on business in the middle of the month and can't guarantee he'll be back, so I'll probably be sleeved in February. It's frustrating to me because my insurance requires 6 months supervised diet. I finished that the week before Thanksgiving (U.S.) I'm scheduled to attend the final "class" they require all patients to take on Dec. 17. My endoscopy is Jan. 13. I could easily have made it in December, but hubby didn't want me restricted over the Holidays. (I had thyroid surgery with complications last year just before Christmas, so I understand how he feels.) Still, you can imagine my frustration now that my surgery needs to be pushed back again!

Who's next?

*Mods please move this to the appropriate forum when you update the support groups.

Hey there,

I've been doing well. Diet is pretty good. I still have some trouble keeping up my water and protein intake. I've lost 53 lbs since surgery on 2/22/16 and 63 lbs total. I think I'm on my second stall. First one was my second week and lasted 10 days and I haven't lost anything in about 8 days now. I know it's normal but it drives me batty. I've still got approx 100 lbs that I want to lose.

Wow you are doing fabulous! That's a lot of weight!!!

How is everyone? Motivation keeping up?

Struggling! Last 2 weeks no weight loss and last 5 weeks weight loss slowing down to 1lb a week - snacking too much and eating way too much bad crap. Slowly old habits have crept back in. I never thought I would be struggling this early on and jeopardising everything.

I really need to get back on track ASAP - went shopping today and plan to start tomorrow getting on track. Really hope I can cut out the crap and start eating well again.

I agree- I somehow thought I thought doing such a major thing would change my motivation to permanently eat healthy. But then I remember all the times I was motivated and then slipped into old habits 3 weeks later. I think it is going to be a lifetime struggle

My surgery was 2/22/16. Day of surgery I was 251. Today weighed in at 196! Pretty flipping exciting. I log everything that goes in the pie hole. Helps with accountability. I try to plan everything I will eat the day before. Including snacks. (Takes away emotional eating) I eat every 4 hours. This is my plan. I'm sticking to it! [emoji13]

Congrats on cracking the 100s! I did myself too in the last week and it felt great! (Surgery 2/2/16, surgery weight 269)

Hi Everyone

It was 1 year ago today June 15th 2015 at 1 P.M. that I went to see the surgeon for a hernia, gallbladder and possible sleeve surgery. I had to use my mobility device as despite having lost 145 pounds on my own I still was not able to walk into his office building. At 352 pounds, he told me I had to see him for the next 6 months as he was putting me on a HPLC supervised diet. After that more than likely I would be able to have the 3 surgeries all at once. On Jan 26th 2016 he performed the 3 surgeries with me weighing 314 pounds. A 38 pounds lost in those 7 1/2 months I had to wait. Since surgery 5 months ago I have lost an additional 60 pounds for a total of 98 pounds in this past year.

I am only able to eat about 3-4 oz of meat and still have the filling of being full before I even get to the vegs. I never knew filling full could be so painful. I am tracking calories around 800 to 900 calories and getting in 60 to 90 proteins and 41 to 80 carbs and all my water each day. I am biking 4 to 6 miles 5 days a week and am 5 pounds away from being able to go to a back surgeon to see what they can do to help me to walk again now that I am almost below 250 That was their magical number before they wanted me to get to before they would help me.

I was sitting here but have taken a break from pulling out seams to to cut down and take in my clothing. When I do stand to transfer to a chair my pants are falling off of me and I am stepping all over my pants legs. I can't afford new clothing s am thankful I know how to take in clothing.

Since my highest recorded weight I have lost 243 pounds. My BMI has gone from 80 to 41. I still have 102 pounds to lose but because of the sleeve and all the hard work I am doing I know I will reach my goal. I am waiting until I get below that magical number of 250 to take some more pictures. When I do get there I will be sure to post.

Everyone is doing a fantastic job and I like that we are still posting. I hope to see many more posting over the next year as I just today renewed my Bariatricpal VIP Membership.

My date is January 13, 2017! I have to do all liquids one week prior to surgery. They want me to lose 10 pounds before surgery and have advised me to start basically following Atkins phase 2 to achieve that. So excited to get the process rolling, only two months to go! (I will be doing self-pay in Mexico at the obesity control center with Dr. Ortiz)
