Can you get too much protein after surgery

Recommended Posts

I am a week after surgery tomorrow and my nausea today has been almost as bad as the first day. Have not had any trouble until today. Wondering if I ate too much Protein?

I drink plenty of Water, and try to get 60g of Protein a day. Is that too much this early?

Or maybe I just ate something my new stomach doesn't like?

Trying to figure it out, don't like taking steps backwards:(

I doubt very seriously you can get too much Protein soon after surgery.

My Protein goal is 100 grams a day. I was sleeved so don't know if the bypass is different, but my surgeon said that there is no physical reason I wouldn't be able to drink 3 premier Protein shakes the day after surgery.

It's not easy, but if you keep sipping, you can do it.

That's what I figured. I really think my stomach just didn't like the cream Soup I made yesterday. Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't so nauseous after my RNY; however, my friend who got the sleeve was always nauseous so her surgeon prescribed her some Phenergan to rub on her wrists. It worked instantly. Maybe you can get that from your doctor.

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
