Struggling but determined!

Hey guys!

Been super busy the last few weeks and so I wanted to share what's been going on lately.

First of all, my stats: HW - 234 surgery weight was 225 and as of Monday (6wk) was 202.8! So far the loss is going good.

The bad news ... Not getting enough fluids, and definitely not getting enough protein:(

I log all of my intake on MFP and I really get discouraged when I see my nutrition at the end of the day and I barely hit 30 grams of Protein or barely get through 20 ounces of Water a day. I average about 500 calories a day as well. Cramps are happening more frequent, dehydration and really dry skin, I have lost quite a bit of muscle mass and get pretty tired just brushing my hair in the mornings. (Which is starting to thin)

Basically guys.. Don't be like me!

I really have got to get on a schedule with my eating and drinking. I manage a huge department for 4 of our regional hospitals and I stay BUSY in meetings most of my day. I forget to eat! Also doesn't help that I fill up after two tablespoons still. I kinda hoped I would have gotten up to at least half a cup or something! It's so hard to get adequate nutrition in when I can't hold a lot. I also get sick after most meals and end up throwing up some mucus/acidic stomach acid that I am sure is the reason I have heartburn 90% of the day. Also my fault, as I forget to take my acid blocker and manage to only get it down a few times a week. Vitamins make me nauseous so I don't take them like I should either...

Let me just say that for those about to go into this journey... You had better really have the right mindset. Not at all like I have had!

Plan and organize.. And set goals. None of which I did but starting this week it is my top priority!!

I did find some turkey sticks at the grocery deli and I am on the lookout for protein I can sprinkle over my food. Gotta get in that protein!!!

I had stopped drinking the Protein Shakes weeks ago but I am going to start taking those for Breakfast again as well.

Any other suggestions would be helpful. I cannot believe I let myself get so off track in just a few weeks but I am determined to get myself together!! Thanks for all of the support!!

And happy turkey day!!! (Gonna try and eat the whole thing????)lol!

Keep actively working on it. It takes time to work up to the numbers everyone wants. I still have days where I don't even Finnish a bottle of Water. Mainly because I've drank coffee all day. I have to remind myself daily to stay focused. You will get there.

Beef Jerky was a huge help for me in getting enough protein. If you chew really well it seems to go down easy.

Because we can't drink around meals I also struggle with fluids. I find putting Water next to my bed at night helps me drink more through the night when I'm not eating.

I don't like to hear that you're throwing up after your meals. Have you discussed this with your doctor? You could be eating too much, too fast, or have a stricture.

Please take Vitamins. If you can't handle the pills or bariatric ones, do adult gummies. I know it's not the best but it's better than nothing!!!

Thank you guys for the advice!

I will definitely use your suggestions:) as far as the throwing up goes, it's not all the time and only occurs maybe a few times a week.. Really seems to occur on those days I did not take the acid reducer. And partly because I have not mastered the "full" feeling yet until I am stuffed and sick.. I am getting there.. Slowly but surely!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
