Whatever you do FAST FOR THE LAB WORK!!

In the hospital when a patient is going to have cholesterol etc drawn in the AM we tell them nothing by mouth except for Water from after dinner the night before until labs are drawn.

So after dinner tonight nothing except Water until after labs are drawn. It will help you get an accurate result.

Eating anything can make it artificially high.

Good luck!

They are doing some more blood work and if all clear I am good to go for surgery on 12/22. The doctors office said I didn't need to fast but that seems strange. The surgeon ordered: CBC, CMP, A1C, and EKG. Should I fast? And if so, how long?

Odd that they cancelled the first date the day before. When did they have the labs that showed the elevated triglycerides?

I was told to fast for mine after 10pm the day before bloodwork (except to keep drinking water).

I hope you get your date this year. I got mine 11/19 and am so glad to be on the road to a new and better 2016!

No need to fast for those... But any time cholesterol levels are involved definitely fast

Good luck!!

Blood work was good. EKG was not. Going today for an echo and stress test.

I swear I am never going to get to have this done. I know people in worse condition get this surgery, so how come they can get it but I keep getting road blocks???

So frustrated right now.

I know that. Its just frustrating. I have support from everyone in my life that I feel like its not just letting me down but all of them. I know that's a good problem to have but its still a problem. :)

Plus, I have been on the pre-op diet twice now and let me tell you its harder the second time.

No worries, it's not that they don't want to approve surgery it is that your surgeon wants to know exactly what your health status is prior to taking you to the OR. It's the whole knowledge is power.

Good luck!

Just the unknown. Every test I have done during this process has turned into more tests. So nervous for what if it came back bad.

However that being said, the echo and stress test came back "completely normal."

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
