I'm New! I've already setup my initial Appointment

Recommended Posts

Good day and thanks for reading.

First off, I want to say what an awesome place this seems to be so far. I see a lot of really informative posts, and information and pictures of what people have accomplished. My name is Josh, and I am 28 years old. I've always had an issue with weight, and trying to lose it. I buy all of my clothes offline, i do not go anywhere, except work and home, and i've decided that the sleeve is going to be the right fit for me. I along with my wife have both decided that this is what we are going to do to get ourselves better.

We were married 5 years ago, and i've always looked for ways to make ourselves better, and we've tried diet after diet. It's helped more for me than her, and she then gets discouraged. She was diagnosed with PCOS when she was younger, and the struggles that she goes through really makes life hard for her. But seeing what this surgery has done, and the track record from plenty stories we've seen, it makes us excited to see what could happen in our future.

If anyone has any tips, or ideas about what we can expect i'd love to hear them.

Thanks.

Hi, Josh. Welcome to this site. You, and your wife, are in for quite an adventure. Congratulations on taking such a big step toward a new life.

My advice: learn as much as you can, ask lots of questions, and be patient, proactive, and persistent as you navigate the process.

Best of luck, and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Welcome, Josh! Hope you and your wife can do this together. My hubby and I had our surgeries 3 weeks from each other. He is my biggest supporter and encourager. I have PCOS also so I understand what your wife goes through. We have zero regrets about our surgery. We just had our 6 month lab work and we are completely normal on everything from blood pressure to Protein. That's a first for us!

I encourage you to ask questions of your doctors, nutritionist, etc. Start making changes now and that will help you later. If you can start getting more active. The surgery is a tool (you will hear this a lot). After surgery it is all up to you. This is a great forum!

First thing I would say is to keep an open mind through the entire process. From the first doctor appointment on. You will have many highs and lows along the way. But the end result is totally worth it. Make sure to ask as many questions as you can think of. Being informed is what helped me in the early days of doctor appointments and then the first few weeks post op. I wish you and your wife the best of luck in the adventure you are about to begin. You will be so glad you made this choice.

@@AnA92212 and everyone else thanks for your words!!! We decided to get the surgery together, because we want the best of our lives and to get a good stepping stone for our future. She will be the first one to go, she's already had most of her appointments done, and now we have to do the blood work, and hope for the best with the insurance company. If they deny us, i guess we will just have to pay for it, but hoping for the best.

Anyone here go the "Hush Hush" way? Meaning not telling anyone except those really close to you? So video blogs ive seen people always talk about things they wouldve done differently and not telling anyone is always one of the first things people say. I understand that it can be trying on some people, and some people will label us for "taking the easy way out" as ive heard it is called. Just curious to see what other people have to say about the matter.

I chose to only tell my immediate family and a few close friends. I have no regrets in making that decision.

@@livvsmum I've seen some of your pictures on your page. You look truly amazing! I'm not just singling any particular person out, i just had found something you posted on another post! It is good to see your results, because my wife is the same height as you are, and a little heavier when she has her surgery. Its good to see what this can really do for people, as long as they buy into the lifestyle.

Thank you! Yes, I've been very pleased with the results, but it definitely is a lot of work and a commitment to change for life, but so worth every bit of it. If you are both ready to commit to that I have no doubt you will have wonderful results! :-)

We were very open about our surgery and I wouldn't change a thing about how we handled it. People will question your eating habits, the weight loss, etc. We just told people in advance. We are very lucky to have supprtive people in our lives.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
