Fairlife milk is also a way to get in some Protein (13 grams per 8 oz) - it is lactose free - whey free and tastes good. It is expensive, though - about twice the cost of regular milk. Also, I begin each day with Quaker Weight Control oatmeal - it has 7 grams Protein in it (29 carbs - but most days they are my only carbs) and is the best way for me to start the day as my stomach doesn't tolerate eggs or Protein shakes. And if I prepare it with the Fairlife milk, I get a little more protein in. My NUT had me eating 5-6 small meals a day for a long time. I usually tried to get in between 12-15 grams protein per meal. That helped me get in my protein and only had to fall back on shakes in a pinch.

I think I remember that you made a lot of posts about food before surgery. I don't know how far out you are from surgery or what stage you are in - but it does get better. Oh, and I relied a lot on refried Beans in my pureed stage - with a little cheese in it.

Each day is a new start - if you didn't get all your protein in the day before, you have a clean slate to try again. Getting in as much as you can - pushing yourself - will help you heal faster and you will feel better and stronger, too.

Keep trying - ask your NUT for suggestions....and good luck!

oh. and one more thing...This part of it is only temporary - within a few months you will be able to eat any kind of meat or fish prepared in a lot of different ways. Right now - no matter how hard it is, you need to take care of yourself and make sure you meet the minimum Protein requirements (and fluids - Vitamins and calcium) I know someone who didn't and she has had a whole lot of problems.

Unjury offers a chicken Soup flavor that's quite yummy, as well as a very versatile unflavored variety that you can add to Soups, Pasta Sauce, baked goods, etc. I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast everyday, and for some reason I find it more palatable to warm up the milk. Occasionally I'll drop in a spoonful of sugar-free caffeine-free Cappuccino mix to dress up plain chocolate or vanilla and give it a different flavor profile.

If you have a Vitamin Shoppe near you, they offer so many Protein Drinks. You can buy them individually so you can try out different flavors. I like Isopure Black Tea, it tastes like iced tea and a 20 oz bottle has 40g Protein. They are expensive, like $4+/bottle, but they do go on sale often. It's worth trying. Good luck to you!

Where do you get proteinO2 Water? I've never heard of or seen it.

You can get protein2o at Walmart(not every store carries it) or Vitamin Shoppe stores. I ended up going to Vitamin shoppe and getting a free members card so I got &.50off each bottle I bought. They have a few different flavors. The cherry was very sweet to me, so I poured over ice and let it melt down a bit. The grape was good and mixed berry is better very cold(or over the ice as mentioned).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
