Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I am sooo excited to be at this point in my life.

I have my first appt. with the surgeon July 30,2007. for consult.

I received my instructions from the bariatric center (St. Mary's & Elizabeth bariatric)on what my insurance expects from me and I have sent all of the letters and information to the center.

I have wanted this for so many years and I am so excited to think I might be very close to getting this done.

I have been sitting back and reading the post every day and night for about a month.:ranger:

You guys are great and very informative. It's so nice to know where we are headed, and what to expect with this surgery.Normally we would just find out the hard way...afterwards.:)

I live in Indiana, but I am going to Louisville, Ky. to a Dr. Lusco for my consult.

I am 61 yrs old and I have wanted this for a long time and I just found out our insurance is covering the LapBand. Before, they only covered gastric bypass.

I will keep you posted on how everything is going, and I am sure I will have plenty of questions, just like all the newbies.

Hubby and I have been married 40 yrs. and we have 2 beautiful daughters that are R.N.s and they are all 3 very excited for me.They want me to be healthy and happy, and live a long life.

Hugs to all,

Patti

P.S.- Sophie(my Shih Tzu) is excited for me too. LOL

Hi Mel,

I know what you mean. I can start mine in Oct. when I turn 62. So hopefully we are going to be doing great in weight and money...can't beat that, can we? I sure will be glad when I know a date for my surgery.

Are you a little nervous, or are you excited?

Patti

Thanks Julie,

My brother lives in San Jose. I sure do love your weather. It is soooo hot here, and humid.

I used to say if I lived there, I would be outside walking all the time(now I know better than that LOL) I hate any kind of excersize. I hope I feel different when I am 100pds thinner.

Patti, I think you will be surprised how much more enjoyable exercise will be once you lose some weight. I am much happier now when I exercise. good luck.

I am scared and excited at the same time - scared of the surgery itself only because of being put out but usually don't have any problems - guess it is because it elective. But I am so ready - - and hate to wish my life away at my age  but wish it was the 13 of Aug. - - Oh well as fast as time goes - will be a month down the road in no time.

Hi Pattycake. We have a bit in common. I, too, am 61 and will see a surgeon for consultation on July23rd. I am nervous and hopeful. Will be interested to see how your journey goes.

Patti and Ellin - I was afraid of being rejected due to age! Guess I don't need to worry... 60 is the new 40, afterall!

Goin' the speed limit at 55...

Katie,

I read on one of the groups that a lady that was 74 had the Lapband done, and here I thought I might have waited too long. Talk about giving me hope. That is one spunky lady.I think you are probably right...60 is the new 40. Wonder what that makes 74 now? Something to think about.

LOL

Well, let's keep in touch and see how it all goes together. Ok?

What name do you go by?

Patti

I am a bit confused as to how this all works. My name on this venue is Elinrw.

Oh,

Well, elinrw is your user name, but we usually then end the post with our first name.

My user name is pattycake_3800, but my first name is Patti. It all depends on what you want to do.

Patti

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
