10/8/2015 Surgery Date...lower BMI range 30.3. So excited!

Recommended Posts

Surgery went great! I felt excellent afterwards.

Starting weight on surgery day was 178. Down 10 pounds.

I can only take sips of Water and a tad of Protein water. It doesn't sit well if I were to gulp and if I do get too much liquid in my mouth I have to spit it out in another cup. This is something that will take time. I'm still happy I did this.

Please please please do this one thing- find a therapist that specializes in disordered eating.

I completely understand why you want this surgery and to lose weight. I know what it's like to feel out of control with weight and eating.

My concern for you is I see a lot of similar patterns to myself and I'm afraid the mental toll of so many crash diets may not be something that is going to get fixed with this surgery. This surgery is the easy part, maintianence is the hard part.

At some point you'll have to learn to eat normally, not on a diet or trying to lose weight. It might be very challenging for you considering how desperately you have invested in losing weight in the past.

I can hear in your post the level of extreme emotions you have tied up in your weight and appearance. I am the same way! I would have done anything to lose the weight. Getting into counseling has helped me get in touch with these feelings and start letting some of that fear of losing control go.

Therapy is hugely important in the process and I hope you can do that for yourself!

Otherwise, congrats and good luck!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
