Slow Cooker Recipes

  • Popular Post

As someone who rarely cooks is it weird that I am ridiculously proud of myself for digging out my slow cooker this week?

I have been thinking about investing in a 3 in 1 cooker, but since I rarely use my old-fashioned slow cooker I though I had better give it a whirl.

I raised my pantry and used a can of black beans, two cans of Rotel tomatoes, one brick of Greek yogurt cream cheese, a few shakes of Mexican seasoning, and two frozen chicken thighs.

I made it on Monday and will probably still be eating it this Friday.

I still have chicken thighs. What EASY recipe should I try next?

I'll throw this into the pot, too (pun intended!!!): don't forget you can use that slow cooker for leftovers, as well. Tomorrow I'll put that leftover roast beef in with my garden veggies, some broth and seasoning, and make a nice stew...it just won't take as long, since the meat is already cooked (used the pressure cooker 2 days ago to do the roast). I'll put it in for about 4 hours, just 'til the veggies are done, then add celery for a few minutes (I like it tender-crisp). Then off to a friend's whose husband just had surgery...they need to eat, too!

I use leftovers for my crockpot meals also. If I serve a meat with sides for dinner the kids ask me if we're having soup, beans or casserole tomorrow.

I have not been at home due to illness in the family. Now that things have come full circle and we are home the slow cooker makes sense! I should do this. Thanks for getting me in the groove. I rinse a whole chicken. Put Lowery's seasoned salt inside it. Place a rib of celery and an onion in 1/4 ths in the cavity too. Turn on the slow cooker 4 hr high or 8 on low. Delicious and several meals are possible after we have the roast chicken the first time. I like chicken salad, creamed chicken and chicken and rice soup made with the leftovers!

Thank you for all of these great recipes. I'll definitely use them when I reach the phase to have food again.

strawberry apple sauce!

Add some apples, I use a variety of tart and sweet apples. A little bit of Water, a touch of brown sugar, a splash of vanilla and some fresh strawberries. I cook it on high until it is mush

sorry I don't have exact measurements

Hey There!!! I tried this one today and it was DELISH!!! I have to say that it was a little bit too salty for our liking so next time I'm going to add a little MORE Water and a little LESS soy sauce!! :D

Thanks to everyone for sharing recipes!

I am loving the crockpot and Soups. Guaranteed moist meat and soft vegetables! Chili has become my new go to. Just made a white chicken chili last week that was awesome!! http://www.bushbeans.com/en_US/recipe/classic-white-chicken-chili

Also, with my leftover Mongolian beef, I mixed a couple pieces with some lentil beans for lunch....and they are amazinggggggg. Gives the lentils some flavor!!!

I have this chicken Enchilada (Tortilla) Soup in the slow cooker now. Going to top it with cilantro, avocado and shredded cheese. Will forgo the tortilla chips, of course.

I love my slow cooker, and with 5 kids (all grown now), I used it a lot. I always hated the clean-up! Then I discovered Reynolds slow cooker liners. They are plastic bags, (but don't melt) and when you are ready, just lift them out, leaving a clean crock-pot!

Today i am putting a pork loin roast in the crockpot with fat free italian dressing, carrots, mushrooms, onions and brussel sprouts. On low for about 12 hours. YUMMMMM

I've been experimenting with pork shoulder this past week and its turned out great both times. In the crock pot put in the meat frozen or thawed doesn't matter. Then 5 or 6 large carrots then 8 or 9 red skinned potatoes. 1 chopped red onion. A box of chicken broth or if your in a pinch a can of chicken noodle soup. A can of green beans. The seasoning I use are garlic sea salt adobo I ( its a Spanish type seasoning that you can find in the ethnic section of all grocery stores) dried basil and oregano
