Hi

I had my surgery last Wednesday. I had a hernia repaired too. I have permanent stitches where he attached the hernia area to my diaphragm, stomach and esophagus. I've been experiencing a great deal of pain in my left shoulder which I understand is normal. But I've also experienced an esophagus spasm. That had to be one of the most unsettling situations to contend with. I felt like I was drowning. liquid gets stuck and breathing appears to be labored feeling like a weight is on my chest, center mass. I need to burp to get a little relief. Last night I woke up vomiting in my sleep. Is this common? I've been trying to get in as much fluids as possible, but it seems to take an eternity to drink the smallest of amounts. I'm hoping I will notice improvements with each day.

Best

Constance

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had sleeve and hernia repair and did not experience this. I suggest two things....call your surgon pronto...and try to restrict intake close to bedtime. I don't know if this is in the range of normal but it doesn't sound right to me.

Oh, Fluid intake is rough for every one at first. I used a shotglass with a goal to down that much Water every 15 minutes and it was a chore those early days...that will get better once swelling goes down.

Sorry for your experience. I had hernia repair too and did not experience those spasms. Please call your surgeon, I do not think it is safe to be vomiting in your sleep. Best of luck and pray that you are better soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
