So I am almost a month post op, doing really well no pain or anything my only problem is the stupid Protein Shakes. I have nectar fuzzy naval and double stuffed cookie and i can't seem to make either tolerable does anyone have any suggestions of either how to make them more tasty or which ones might be better.

I really like Premier Protein or Pure Protein because they are both really light tasting and not chalky or gross. I was using a powder for a while but it just became disgusting to me, so I ended up having to switch to the pre-made shakes and I don't regret it at all.

I love Quest Protein Shakes and bars. So yummy and you can bake with it too! My favorite is Peanut Butter and they sell it GNC.

Have you googled Bariatric shake recipes? I have many great sounding ways to modify plain shakes. I ordered this and am so glad I did as it not only has ideas but ways to work with the powder to make it the texture/consistency desired: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1480101095/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1441633999&sr=8-1π=SY200_QL40&keywords=bariatric+shakes+book&dpPl=1&dpID=41Q8WEwHzpL&ref=plSrch

Experiment. I found that blending in fruit (a half a banana) made the Protein shakes more tolerable.

I never could tolerate Protein shakes and new i would have a problem...bought the premere at costco and drank one and said hell no and returned the case.

i've tried so many and i hate them all! i have now resorted to slim fast with 1.5 cups of milk and 2 tbsp greek yogurt to dull the sweetness. the total Protein comes in at just over 30 grams. 1 a day is all i can handle.

i have started eating low fat ricotta cheese with a tiny drop of Tomato sauce, it has saved my life! it actually makes me happy to have 2 tbsp of that and i eat it lunch and dinner.

Unjury has been my favorite post-op! I make them in my nutrition-bullet rx with 8 oz of FairLife 2% milk and some ice to make it milkshake like. Both the vanilla and the chocolate splendor have been my fave so far. I'm going to try a tsp of creamy Peanut Butter in my chocolate splendor tonight. I tried the unflavored in cream of broccoli Soup last night and almost vomited! I made sure the temp was below 140* and it was still gritty and clumped....never again! The chicken soup Unjury is also good!

I used to like Premier Protein pre-op but hated it post-op. And all the other whey Protein shakes/powders I tried. They just left a nasty after taste. I started using Vega Protein. It's a vegan Protein Powder with 20 grams of protein per serving, and 120 cals. I love it! It cost $24 for a 16 serving container but well worth it. I'm on my 3rd container.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
