So i just started my process to get surgery for weight loss bt im very unsure of what i want to do. From the options my doctor gave me im debating on the one where they actually remove part of ur stomach and the by pass (which seems like the one with best faster results), bt it kinda scares me all the detaching and reataching. Any help or past experiences? How did you decide?

I have severe acid reflux (Gerd). RNY is the recommended procedure if you have this ailment.

A lot of the decision process deals with how much weight you have to lose, your surgeon's recommendation, your health, etc. You really need to research each surgery and look at the pros and cons of each.

If I were you, I would educate myself on the options presented by my doctor and have a professional weigh the pros and cons with me!

RNY is reversible. Sleeve is not. They toss out all the stomach that gets cut off, with sleeve surgery. I did NOT want that surgery, I wanted something that if need be, could be reversed. I also have a large amount of weight to lose. (approx. 200 lbs) So it was the clear choice, for the amount of weight I need to lose.

I'd consider how much weight you have to lose. If you have GERD/Reflux, and read on people who had to have revisions from sleeve to RNY later, due to the gerd/reflux issues. I really let my surgeon advise me, as to the best thing for me, because well, he's the expert.

Good luck with everything. The right answer will come to you. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
