I made it out ok. No real nausea or pain. Just gas and some acid reflux I think.

I can't keep down Protein Shakes so I'm drinking Water and fairlife milk. Everything else tastes way too sweet. I'm also sleeping a lot and not sipping like I should.

Protein Shakes suck. And the artificial sweetners don't help at all either. It's good that your drinking Water n milk though at least. sleeping will make everything better and help your body heal faster too. The hot showers will help you feel better. The next week will be so much better

I was doing so well and then last night I started throwing up and today I feel awful. Everything tastes like rotten eggs. My stomach is really sour and I'm exhausted.

Try limiting the amount of milk for now. Do you have anything for nausea? I know it sounds weird but brush your tongue and see if that helps with your taste. Try broth, tea (mint or ginger will help settle your stomach), Protein Water (or unflavored protein mixed in water), try drinking things at varying temps to see what works best. You have to get your fluids or you'll get dehydrated quickly. Rest and fluids - don't worry too much about protein right now. Hope you feel better soon!

@@Tssiemer1 sorry your not feeling well. Try to move around too and not just recline/lay down in bed or on the couch. Two weeks out and it hardly feels like I had surgery. Scabs and bruising on incisions are gone, I'm able to gulp fluids and feel the restriction when eating yogurt or Soups. It gets better but you have to get moving and sip Water like its a job!

I'm doing good. I have been the same weight since Friday and started my period Monday. Hoping for a loss when I weigh in Friday. Honestly sometimes I forget I've had the surgery. No pain and able to drink big gulps of water/protein shakes.< /p>

@@Tssiemer1 Hope all your after surgery days are going well. June will be my last month of Family doctor visits and July will end my Nutruition visits. So close.. yet so far away. Close enough to feel anxious though. I've lost 88 lbs since my initial visit on January 14. still so much more to go to reach the goal i've set for myself. 202 lbs to be exact. Can't wait to get all this off and get on with my life.

Much Love :)

It turns out I had a kidney infection. I was sick for a week. My husband convinced me I was being a wimp. But Friday I almost passed out in the shower so we called the surgeon. It's Friday so no one was in. My post op appointment is Wednesday. Anyway I went to the ER and had severe polynephritis. They kept me for IV antibiotics and fluids. Next day I woke up feeling 100000 times better. So now I'm doing well. Meeting my goals without pain or vomitting.

Kyboo, not too much longer. It will go by since summer is here pretty much. It always seems like summer goes by the fastest. It will seem like forever though.

Bloomer, how are you doing?

Tssiemer, how are you doing too? That's good you are better now and it's scary how sick anyone can get from a kidney infection. I'm sorry you went through all of that. It's pretty rough after surgery too.

I am 12 pounds away from onederland. This is the lowest I've been in a long time. I'm 212. I was 220 when I got pregnant in 2012. I was 170 10 years ago so that's gonna be my goal weight.

Doing well. I've been on a 13 day stall that broke today. Hoping to see a loss Friday. I only lost .4 last week. I'm almost to Onederland too! I have about 5 pounds to go. I am almost one month out, it went by fast. We leave for Disney a week from Friday and I would be so happy to be under 200. My stomach has become super itchy. I'm noticing a change in the way my clothes fit. People at work are commenting, asking if I've lost weight so that's exciting.

I am so jelly that your going to disney! Omg. Take me with you! That's one of my goals. I've been wanting to go back for the last 10 years. It's the best place on earth besides the ocean. I hope you have a great time!

That is great that your clothes are changing and everyone is noticing the change too. Do they all know about your surgery?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
