Six months prior to surgery I went cold-turkey on my 6 Coke a day habit. I lost 20 pounds based on giving up carbonated drinks alone. I am not about to go back to carbonated beverages again.

I haven't tried it since surgery, but I had a diet coke funeral a couple days before my surgery... after I had given it up for a while before that.

My doctor says after 6 months I may be able to try a small amount, but frankly, my last one wasn't that good and I didn't even drink the whole thing. I bet after 6 month it won't taste good anymore anyway... More of a good memory that won't live up to expectations.

I don't intend to try either. More for the empty calories for sweetened drinks and the aspartame in the diet drinks. Also I wouldn't have room by the time I got in all my Water and food. Just one more bad habit I don't intend to pick up again

Remember that drinking carbonated drinks can stretch your pouch! I certainly wouldn't drink them after all the effort to get WLS. Not worth it.

Another option: I really like Vitamin Water Zero. My whole family finds it very tasty. Lots of different flavors.

When I was about 6 weeks post op I wasn't thinking and sipped some of my son's soda at dinner when my food got a bit stuck. Ouch. I don't even miss it anymore after that feeling!

I haven't had a soda in about 4 years! I don't want it. My kids and husband drink it. I have replaced my 20 oz dr. Pepper with a 1 liter bottle of Evian. I hear the whining about the money I spend on Water. So my thing is when they give up the soda, I'll give up the Evian and switch to Disani.

I don't crave soda. My Surgeon and Nut both recommended giving up soda all together as there was a potential of stretching my pouch. That's enough of a reason. It was more about gas getting trapped inside than the soda physically stretching my pouch.

Early on I think the rapid expansion of your pouch could jeopardize healing around the staples

I've done sips from time to time when my wife asks me to try hers, I think she gets a kick that I don't like it anymore, the carbonation is ok but the sweetness is yucky, especially coke, I crave my Water flavoring a lot especially my "Tang" water drops, and my punch Gatorade G2, I also wanna try the Nestle fruit water............ Not to be a hypocrite I do crave Energy drinks every freakn day!!!!!!!!?

I gave up my Diet Coke when I went on my liquid diet. Cold turkey. A few months after my surgery, I had a sip of a friend's diet coke, and I hated it. I haven't even thought of having even a sip since then. I've learned to drink herbal tea. If I need sweetener I use liquid Stevia. I don't recommend Truvia. please stay away from carbonated drinks.

I gave up soda back when I was banded. I have always gravitated toward sweet anything, but soda is empty calories and can stretch your pouch from the gas in the carbonation. I found an alternative sweet drink and love it!!! Sobe Lifewater is awesome!!! They carry 7 different kinds of calorie and sugar free yummy tasting drinks!!! They also carry others that have calories so make sure you read the label. Here is the mobile website. I love the Fuji Apple Pear, it is soooooo good !!!! :P

I too haven't had a soda post op. So it's been almost 5 months since I had a diet pepsi. I'm actually scared to drink a soda. Not only because it can stretch your pouch, but because I've gotten so used to being without it that I don't even want to fall back into old habits.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
