Whoa! Classification change

Recommended Posts

I'll try to keep this short, but I just realized something and can't stop the stupid tears...

When I was researching sleeve surgery, I also learned a lot about BMI and obesity in general. Now, I knew (know) I am fat, so it's not like my head was in the sand, but I learned I was classified as Super Obese (BMI >50). What the H-E-double hockey sticks?? When I read that a few months ago, I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. There is no classification beyond that.

While reading and learning on here today, like I do every single day, I happened to glance at my info. I'm no longer classified as Super Obese!!!!!!! Yay!!

I know I have a loooong way to go, but there's something about losing the designation of "super obese" that makes me feel...dare I say...hopeful. :)

Wishing all of you hope and everything wonderful.

XO

I am thrilled that i am now "only" obese and cant wait until i am simply overweight. And some day i will be normal, at least according to my weight

I know what you mean!! I had to laugh at myself when I got excited over being morbidly obese. I also decided on the surgery for certain when I realized I was beyond morbidly obese.

@@newbeginnings1965 I can't wait to be just "obese". Way to go!!!

@@maggie409 I completely understand!!! I normally couldn't care less about labels, but this was jarring when I was deciding, too.

Congrats. I too was at super obese. I think I'm in the morbidly range slowly but surely getting out of that range as well.

Way to go! I'm in the same boat as you. Scary to think we are in the same classification as someone who is 800 pounds. Even scarier to know that I could've gotten there without realizing it or stopping myself.

Well, I guess we all will have the last laugh when our BMI's are in the "normal" range!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
