Hello all I'm just beginning my journey. The first step through kaiser nor. Cal I have to take an introduction to weight loss surgery class, which isn't scheduled until Sept 9th. I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience going through kaiser for the sleeve how long did it take from your initial inquire until you had your surgery?

that's not bad at all compared to what I thought it was going to take. I've read a few different posts that said Kaiser requires a 12 week nutritional class and you have to lose 10% of your current weight before you can have the surgery. Congrats on your journey!

yea every kaiser is different our classes weren't mandatory just strongly encouraged. You do have too lose weight pre op. But long as your losing and not gaining you should be fine .. Just follow the diet they give you ..

Thank you btw.

it seems like the 12 week options class is a Kaiser SoCal thing. I'm starting at Kaiser Richmond, as well. We just have the orientation/nutrition class, meeting with surgeon, meeting with psych and then the meeting with the case manager to schedule surgery once you lose the weight. I had the class 1 week after referral, meeting with surgeon the following week and then a 5 week wait for the psych.. I go 9/8.

it has taken me two months from the class date to have the meetings with surgeon, psychiatrist and lose the weight. I am meeting with the case worker to schedule surgery exactly 2 months and 1 week since that day. I believe she schedules out surgery 3-4 weeks (since she said isn't scheduling past mid november), which will make the whole process 3 months for me.

Wow!!! That's amazing ????. Which surgeon do you have? What are your stats? Thanks so much for sharing. I'm feeling very encouraged!

I have Dr. Im

stats:

Age: 35

Height: 5'4.5"

orientation weight: 401.5

pre surgery goal: 370

current weight: 364.5

weight lost: 37 lbs

Once you go to the wls class/nutrition class combo, everything starts happening really quickly. Some of the changes they ask you to make are super hard, like not eating for 10 minutes after drinking or not drinking for an hour after eating, eat Protein first, no straws, gum, caffeine, carbonated beverages, or alcohol; but they seem to know what they're doing:)

I am on FB, feel free to add me:)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
