15 days out and I miss the crunch

Recommended Posts

I'm 15 days post op I went into surfer at 292 lbs and I'm now 264. Good progress, I'm sticking to the required eating and letting my stomach heel but what I am finding to be difficult is the head hunger. I really miss the couch of a chip or really anything I can chew at this point and I'm still 4 1/2 weeks away before I can eat something I can legitimately chew. I know it's just in my head but it's really starting to get to me.

Anyway I'm very happy with the way everything is progressing but I would love if anyone has some tips for the head hunger. Thanks

For me popsicles save the day when I feel the need to chew something. I know it's difficult but it's not for long! Keep strong :)

@ is right, a sf popsicle can really help with that need for a crunch or to be able to chew. It really is a head game, and it will get better I promise!

I remember feeling this way too.. I got a little cup of ice and added a little lemon to it and a dash of salt. My dr didnt seem to have a problem with it but MAN it was heaven to me.

@@ritch7094 chewing on ice cubes can be very tough on the teeth. I'd advise against it. Obscure health fact, people who chew on ice often have low Iron levels. (see: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/iron-deficiency-anemia/expert-answers/chewing-ice/faq-20057982).

I just try and mix it up. Protein Shake, Popsicle, and then when I'm sick of the sweet, a little savory broth, and then repeat. Helps a little. Good luck!

Thanks everyone I'll try the ice and I'm eating Popsicles. Something warm and crunchy would be nice. I know it's just in my head but it's getting to me. Thanks again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
