Slow loss @ 7 week post op

I'm 7 week post op and only lost 25 lbs since surgery, and most of that lost in first 4 weeks. Sw 250, CW 225

I've been at 225 for 2 weeks....I'm so frustrated! I follow 60-80 Protein and under 25 net carbs. Any advice?

I'm not sleeved yet but maybe check your measurements of you haven't already. That may make you feel better. Just my 2 cents ????

Check with your NUT but for me I was not getting enough carbs. We are supposed to get closer to 40% of our calorie intake from carbs. Make sure they are healthy carbs and not sugar filled. From what I was told, carbs are our main source of energy and when we have not carbs to burn our body starts to burn up our Proteins. You may not feel comfortable with such a large increase in carbs but talk to your NUT about upping it to maybe 50 gr a day. I know as obese people we learn that carbs are the devil but keep in mind that before WLS we all probably got the majority of our calories from pure carbs. This was my experience and it helped me. Mind you I am only 5 weeks out but I had a period of extreme weekness and it was associated with dehydration and not enough carbs. Good luck!!

LOL! You're not losing slowly. Your weight loss is great. And it sounds like you're eating right for the early phases. I assume you're also drinking lots of Water.

But your expectations of week after week of 3, 4, 5 pound weight losses until you hit goal are completely unrealistic. You will not lose as fast in the coming months as you did during the first 6 weeks post-op. That's not how this works.

At my heaviest I weighed 235 pounds, then lost 19 pounds pre-op. My surgery weight was 216. During the next two months (just under 9 weeks) I lost 22 pounds.

You're doing great. You're simply in a stall. It'll break any day now.

I'll be 8 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 21 pounds since surgery. Some days it does feel slow but I keep reminding myself that I never was able to lose 3lbs a week pre op!

I am 7 weeks out as well, and I have only lost 22lbs since my surgery. You are not losing slowly, that seems normal to me. If anything you might want to avoid just counting net carbs and try counting your total carb intake (including fiber), because there is research suggesting that certain Fiber and sugar alcohols affect glucose levels similar to other carbs. Honestly though you seem to be doing fine. Just think, would you have lost 25 lbs in 7 weeks before you had surgery? I know this is easier said than done because I am still very anxious about my weight loss and I want to do everything possible to ensure that I get to goal. Just make good choices and exercise. I exercise 5-6 days per week, never eat more than 700, and always eat less than 40 grams of carbs (total carbs!), and drink about 64-100oz of Water every day. I do all these things and I have only lost 22lbs since surgery. Unfortunately, part of this experience is learning to go with the flow, even when you think that flow is too slow!!!!!! B)

I'm so glad you posted this because yes, I always thought carbs where the devil. Up until 5 weeks post op, I didn't eat carbs and barely lost. But when I increased my carbs and calories, I did begin to lose a bit more. Still not completely satisfied but at 3 weeks post op, I'm down 32 (SW 275). But yes, I agree with you 100%.

My NUT still teaches the carbs are the devil. When you say carbs are you talking naturally in the veggies and Protein? I have completely warded off basically anything white, like Pasta, rice, bread etc. Just curious as to what type of carbs you are meaning?

I am assuming they mean carbs from veggies, dairy, and some fruit. I agree carbs are not the "devil", but sugar is definitely a demon of some kind!!!! I limit my carbs to about 40g per day and I try to keep the amount of net carbs below 25g per day. Just make sure you are eating healthy, real foods, protein first always and you shouldn't have room for any extra carbs.

It is just a stall you will get through it by sticking to what you have been told to do, unfortunately most of us have many stalls during our journey. One thing I will say is when was the last time you were able to lose 25lbs in 7 weeks and were able to keep it off ? Don't be hard on yourself it's a journey not a sprint.

Only good carbs. I don't eat anything white either. No rice, pasta, potatoes or bread. When I was told to add carbs I added oats with a teaspoon of honey. (The only sweetener I am allowed is honey or agave nectar). I can get carbs from Greek yogurt and a few steamed veggies. I also haven't added fruit back.

I am right there with all of you. I am down 26lbs from surgery on May26th. I have been doing all the same things and am satisfied with that loss. I just hope it continues and that I can stay strong and focused! I think 22 pounds in this amount of time is great! Just keep it up and I am sure we will get there!!! ????

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
