I'm now looking at late October, possibly November. It all depends on insurance. I was doing the 6 (7) months with BCBS, but I started the 3 months with my doctors office. If insurance does not get touchy, I will finish the 3 months before the BCBS, and can submit and have surgery by end of October. If they are difficult because I was doing their program, as well, and make me wait (which I can't imagine why they would, if I have met the other optional criteria - we have a choice as to which one we want to do) - it would be end of October.

I'm in Mississippi, going to Baptist Nutrition and Bariatric Center

@@linzlou2000 - Thank you! I had a bad experience with a clinic back in April, but the clinic I'm working with now - well, I just can't say enough good things about. Now, I've only had one visit, but it was an excellent visit! LOL

Tentative for late October/early November pending insurance approval. I'm on a 90 day monitored diet with Cigna. I'll have nutritionist appointment 3/4 tomorrow, and I'll be submitted for approval on 9/29. I'm in Orlando, FL and ready to do this NOW!

I'm glad to see so many Fall surgery buddies! :) I have had a little glitch, had a shadow on my nuclear stress test from cardilogist. I only had the stress test because I have some chest aches, I don't think they do it routinely? Anyway, now I have to have a cardiac cath on 9/15 to make sure it's nothing. Apparently, it could be a shadow from big boobs - go figure!! Hoping it's nothing so I can schedule my gastro EGD right afterwards and keep my November 4 surgery date!!!

Good luck to everyone!!!!! It's going to be a fun Fall/Winter and hopefully a skinny spring :)

Someone from one of the Facebook boards started a Fall 2015 Sleevers Facebook board. If you're interested in joining, let me know. It's a secret group so I think I need your email address to add you.

I would like in the Facebook group. I joined the Julyers page when I thought it would be this summer and it's awesome. But would really like to be on a page with people

Who are at the same stage as me. I think if u give me the name of the group I can search and request to join.

I'm pretty sure most doctors in America require a sign off from a cardiologist. The doctor I was initially going to use required an appointment with a cardiologist and a stress test.

I'm going for an echocardiogram and resting pictures of my heart tomorrow. Stress test is on Tuesday. If I pass and get my cardiac clearance, all I need test-wise is my Pap smear and to finish my supervised diet ????

Thinner-me, it's called Fall 2015 Sleevers

back2me1987, my sister is getting sleeved too, and her doctor doesn't require cardio clearance. I had a nuclear stress test and cardiac echo, I don't think those are done to everyone?

Cindy, is a pap required?? I have never heard of that one!

Hi,

I would love to join the Fall 2015 Sleevers group, @JennyC724. I would not have made it this far without the support of a couple of sleeve groups on FB.

Thanks!

Dawn

It just hit me again today my surgery is only 8 weeks away. Ian so ready to start this journey. I went to a lighthouse today with my family and of course took pics. When I got home I almost don't recognize myself I am so heavy it makes me so sad it's not how I feel inside. I can't wait for my inner me to match my outer me. As afraid as I am at times of this surgery itself I am so ready for the ride and the new beginning to come. October 13 i hope... I'm glad to have support and hear your stories of courage on this site. It is more support than I recieve at home and the only place I know people understand and share my same thoughts and feelings. Good luck to everyone

I'm hoping for a November surgery date. I have my first visit with my surgeon on September 9th. As I'm paying cash, I was told November is doable! : )

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
