Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I want to hurry up and get started with this!

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting gastric sleeve surgery and have done so much research online and watched numerous videos. I love the videos. Problem is I have to wait until July 17th just to go to the weight loss surgery orientation class even before my PCP will refer me to the bariatric group. It's killing me to wait. In the meantime, I have gone off soda, coffee/caffeine for several weeks now. I bought a new water bottle and I'm practicing getting my 64 oz of Water in and not drinking from straws. I really have the urge to start back at the gym but I want to make sure I'm in the bariatric program before I start to lose weight. Is that dumb thinking? I'm at a 45 BMI now and I don't think going to the gym will really make me go down to under 40 that soon. I just want to make sure I'm approved to be in the program. I'm so bummed I have to wait until July 17th, then I will email my doctor to tell her I went to class, then she will refer to bariatric program. No other classes are available at my hospital until then. I also ordered the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury starter pack to try the different Protein powders and just bought myself some Centrum chewable vitamins. Since I have to wait to get started, is there anything else I should be doing? Ugh, waiting is hard!

Sounds like you are doing fine. It is so hard to wait I know. Start watching your eating habits and begin eating higher Protein and lower carb. You may lose some weight prior to surgery and that isn't such a bad thing. If you get in the gym now you will recover faster and gat back to it sooner.

Any weight you lose now is a step closer to your goal! Go for it!

@@quiltermom65 , is there any way possible you could get a referral even for a psych evaluation or to meet with a nutritionist? I know when I was pursuing the insurance route, I was able to get both prior to the surgical orientation. It did help, but I was denied in the long run and have pursued the private pay route! Another thing, keep on track with your physician's office in regards to your weight and medical history. Mine were slackers and well, stalled the process a bit. If you have gone to hospitals or urgent care facilities, aside from your PCP, go ahead and get your records for the last 5 years just to make them available to your surgeon's office. I have found that by doing most of the leg work yourself, the process seems to be expedited! Best of luck to ya!

@@quiltermom65 I have my orientation on the 16th but my PCP has already sent my referral over last month and I had to do a seminar first beforehand. I am like you with the Water intake and eating better, and exercising more. Just to get ahead if the game.

Who is your insurance carrier? I have Kaiser.

I have Kaiser in Sacramento. Luckily all my records are in one place. I think I will email my PCP to see if I can get some other appts going in the meantime, that's a good suggestion.

I didn't think about scheduling the appointments beforehand.

I'm getting my surgery in Richmond.

Keep us posted if you can get the other Appts set before the orientation☺

I also have kaiser in sac. See if you can get in a kaiser sponsored support group now, because they'll make you do one anyway. Also, schedule routine tests if you haven't had them in the last year, pap, cholesterol, etc. you'll also have to see a psychologist and nutritionist, but you might want to wait on those. They have you see specific ones who work with wls patients. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
