How Long Did It Take You to Reach Your Goal Weight?

Recommended Posts

Where did you start? Where are you now and how long have you been maintaining? Obviously everyone is different but curious to know you how your sleeve journey was.

A little over a year. Probably very typical of most on here. Alot at first.....then slower and slower. Some of my stalls were for many weeks with no weight lost. You just have to stay focused and keep to the plan. Eat right, and exercise. That's pretty much it. It's a time thing. The year will fly by.....Enjoy the ride ;)

I've got 10 pounds to goal, and my year is August 22. I would love to hit goal by then, but at this point my monthly weight loss is hit and miss. Some months I'll do well and lose 6 or 7 pounds, some months 2. I will be very close by then though :)

I hit my original goal in 9ish months -- about 110 pounds. I've still not hit my stretch goal at 2 years, but I am only 5 pounds from it, so...

I'm happy where I am and maintaining at 1600-1800 calories a day. If I lose a little more, great. If I don't, great. :D

It took me 10 months to reach my "first goal" of 150 pounds which was about 120 pounds. Since that time, I've lost an additional 25 pounds to my dream goal weight of 125. That took about 18 months.

I'm a pound away from goal and it took me 8 months. 93 lbs. But I have really hit a wall on the weight loss this month. I am at the point where I really need to work it, it's not just falling off anymore.

After this goal, I'd like to lose another 15 or so.

I started with a BMI of 40. I lost 22 pounds before surgery, so I count my time from the day I started preop, not surgery day. 6 months to surgeons goal (down 78 pounds); 7 months to personal goal (down 88); 8/9 months to lowest (down 100 pounds). Not sure of that last time frame because I only weigh a couple times a month and I noticed I finally quit shrinking out of my clothes sometime in August last year.

I was sleeved in mid-August 2014.

It took me about 11 months to reach my goal ... from 235 pounds to 150 pounds. I lost 20 pounds during the 2.5 months pre-op and lost another 65 pounds in 8.3 months post-op.

In the last 2 months I've lost another 5 pounds, down to 145.

There's a strange myth around here that "everybody" is supposed to lose weight like a house afire -- like 20-30 pounds a month for months on end.

Nope. Doesn't work that way for most folks -- unless you are very large or a guy or a young person (or all three) to start with.

Best wishes to you. Just do every day what you're supposed to do that day. You'll get there.

I'm 5'6" and started at 235 (my consult weight). Surgery was about 1 month later, (I'd lost like 13 for preop liver cleanse). From the date of surgery, I hit goal range in about 9 months for a total of 90ish pounds and have maintained in range for 1 year now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
