July 14 here, and I start my 2-week pre-op diet tomorrow. My surgeon's guidelines are Protein shakes to replace 2 meals/day, and then for one meal we're allowed a lean Protein and veggies. I'm sure most people pick dinner for the meal with the protein/veggies, but it really doesn't matter which meal it is as long as 2 meals are replaced with shakes. Then we're allowed things like broth, SF Jello, SF popsicles if needed.

Today is my last day before the 2-week diet starts, so….well…let's just say my husband is taking me to Outback Steakhouse tonight LOL. I'm actually really ready for tomorrow and to get this ball rolling.

Any suggestions.

I'm on my preop diet too! 2 shakes,( for 2 meals) and then 4oz Protein and 1/2 veggies for another. SF Jello, Popsicles and broth for Snacks. he even said, if you get hungry and need something, just make sure it's Protein like a slice of cheese or beef Jerky. I really like him a lot! Good luck everyone!!

You all are lucky! My diet starts today, and I can only have 4 Protein shakes a day and SF liquids (Water, crystal light). It's only 4:40 and I'm dyin! Lol

I just keep telling myself, it's all for health, it's all for health....,

As of today I have made it through the first of two weeks. I have to drink 4 of these New Direction shakes a day. I am not allowed any other food. I can only have no or extremely low calorie fluids, so basically Water or crystal light.

I will say that around day 4 or 5 things got easier. The scale is really moving so that is a great motivator. I had one friend who cheated on his pre-op diet and the surgeon just sewed him back up without doing the surgery. The smaller the liver and stomach are at the time of surgery, the better job the surgeon can do and the better long-term results you can expect.

I get sleeved in a week and a day and the only thing I know is that it is going to be an adventure.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
