ISO: Phoenix support groups

Recommended Posts

I'm in the Phoenix area. I'm scheduled 8/13. I'd be interested in a local group as well.

@@sunshinetinaz Often, your surgeon/hospital offers support groups - I had surgery at Scottsdale Healthcare and they have both online and in-person groups --

I'm from the East Valley. I know there is a support group at Phoenix St. Lukes (Bridges Center) once a month, I think it's on the first Tuesday. Banner also has support groups weekly at Banner Gateway (located in Gilbert) that I attend. I think I heard they have a similar support group at Banner Estrella on the west side. These programs are open to anyone--you don't have to have surgery by that facility (my surgery will be at St. Lukes on 6/25, but the Banner Gateway support groups are closer to where I live). I've heard Scottdale's are open only to people who had their surgery done there, but again I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

I second Banner Gateway. That's where I'm having my surgery and they have support groups open to the public. There's a calendar of them on their website, just search bariatric surgery. Like others have said, other hospitals offer them too. I've been looking for an online support group specific to our area. I may check out Facebook to see if any exist.

Banner Gateway is a 15 minute drive from my house. I'll have to check into that one.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
