Hi All. I am four and a half months post op and I've had very few issues. However, last night I had to jump and run from the restaurant to go puke outside. I thought it was due to having a cocktail with my meal. But after eating this morning, the same thing happened.

It feels as if the food gets stuck in my chest. I get pain and then feel nauseated. Everything I've thrown up has been undigested food, more like spitting up. I usually don't have to watch my speed or bite size. Did I eat too fast/too much or can this be some sort of structure/blockage?

Disclaimer: I am calling my surgeon. I know there's no substitute for a professional opinion, but I am four hours from home and just wanted to hear from you guys.

TIA-Amye

I meant some sort of stricture (autocorrect)

I still do that at times. I just figure I eat too much to fast. It doesn't always happen but it feels better to get it out. I don't burp as much as I use to but something's I think maybe it's blocked a burp in and that could be why.

Sounds like a stricture

It could be a stricture or it could just be eating too fast. We always need to remember to eat to eat slow. Not as slow as we did the first month or so, but still slower than we used to. I find I need to be especially mindful of that when I go out to eat with friends because I get caught up in chatting and don't pay attention to how I am eating.

I usually run to puke in the bathroom but that's just me.

I do have a slight stricture and when I eat too fast or take too big of bites, I find myself rushing to the facilities. Unlike many, I have chosen to keep my stricture as is without stretching it. It keeps me on track, keeps me eating at a slower pace and gives me a swift kick in the ass if I chose to go off course.

That sounds like sliming to me. Are you burping up food and thick saliva every few minutes? I've had this happen before and it went on for 4 hours. It was most likely due to eating too fast on a very empty stomach. I hope you feel better soon!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
