So I've got 2 days till my surgery and have failed on the pre op diet completely, I was told to do a 1000cal diet for 2 weeks consisting of 2 shakes, then a high Protein low carb dinner. Over the past 14 days I would estimate I've done about 6 days total where I have stuck to it.

I vowed that the last 3 days I would stick to a liquid diet, but have sabotaged myself yet again by going to a social situation! I'm so angry with myself! Why can't I do this?! I done it 6 weeks ago perfectly fine but then my surgery was postponed, I don't want friday to come around and they turn me away because I haven't shrunk my liver enough.

I have no idea what to do now, do I try again tomorrow in the hopes that it may make a difference? One thing I definitely don't want to do is tell the nurse or surgeon that I have strayed incase they postpone me again.

i didnt follow the pre op diet either which i should have. i even ate a double cheese burger the day after surgery.which i knew was wrong but i will say dont get down on yourself or be mad remember everyday is a new day. just remember change will not happen over night. after a couple fills and 9 months i was at my goal weight and even had the dr take some out. now 2 1/2 years later i actuallt weigh 15 pound under my goal and havent seen the dr since. you will learn to make changes

How do you know you screwed up???? How much weight did you loose?

The way I understood it, I had to loose X amount of weight, within the 2 weeks before surgery, to rid the fat and shrink the liver so as not to make the procedure more dangerous.....

My Dr. did not care how I lost the weight, as long as I did......just so happened going on the shake program was the fastest way to do it in 2 weeks.....

My surgery was early on a Monday Morning....I had to go in that Friday for my Final weigh in.....I lost the required weight, then went out Friday night and had my "Last Meal".....splurged like there was no tomorrow....

Then saturday was back in the shakes, Sunday was more or less a fast, and Monday was surgery....

Hi there, nerves really kick in pre-surgery and of course you had that false start on top of the usual jitters, etc. Try to find a calm place inside and breathe. It's important to recognize our behaviors, how we turn to foods etc., and you are doing that. It helped me to see a therapist to sort out food triggers -- plus I knew I was making a major life change and I wanted an objective third party to be able to discuss things with as they came up. It's really important that you follow the protocol so you heal up properly and learn to listen to your band. Getting the appetite monster off of my back was amazing but it took some time. Give yourself time and try not to panic and revert to old behaviors. Best wishes -- keep us posted!

@@B-52 I don't know 100% of ive screwed up in just assuming I have, my surgeon didn't say I needed to lose X amount of weight he just said stick to the pre op diet to shrink my liver, I have lost about 12lb in the process but that's been over 6 weeks. So I don't want to go tomorrow they have a look and say my liver isn't small enough then don't operate that's the only think I'm worrying about. Thank you for replying :)

@@Bandista thanks so much for your insight, the last few weeks have taught me a lot about myself,

I can say no to food and I don't need to run to the snack cupboard every time I have a bad day as tomorrow is always a new one. Im full of nerves at the moment and just want it over and done with so I can start my journey. I don't doubt that the next few months will be challenging and there will be times when I want to raid the snack cupboard but in ready to take that all in my stride. Will be updating as I go along :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
