Gall bladder attacks after LB...

Recommended Posts

I've never had problems with my gall bladder but I think the last 2 days I've had GB attacks. I'm having one now and the pain is severe!

I know with other WLS they give you medicine to avoid this due to rapid wt loss. I don't have that medicine because the loss is to be slow. I've lost 19 lbs in 7.5 weeks.

I'll have to call my surgeon Monday and will do a liquid diet, no fat til then.

Going on a cruise in 2 weeks.......

Hi, it is very common to have gall bladder problems. This happens to anyone who loses a significant amount of weight. The bile needed to process the high fat food is no longer needed and it sits in your gall bladder and can create stones. Get it checked out before you leave. Good luck in your journey. Mona

Well it was severe....I had gall stone pancreatitis with my lipase almost 6000. Fortunately it dropped very fast (passed the stone). Had my GB out yesterday and I'm now home recovering. :)

Never planned on 2 surgergies in less then 8 weeks. My surgeon doesn't typically give Actigall to her lap band pts, but always to bypass and sleeve pts.

I too am back on a liquid diet after a trip to the ER on Sunday. I had terrible pain from just right of my pouch straight through to my back that was controlled that night. Tomorrow I will be seeing a surgeon and my primary physician to review the CT (which did not note gallstones), but my lipase was twice as high as the normal levels.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
