30 or 60 minutes after a meal?

Recommended Posts

My center just changed the weight period before eating to nothing. We are allowed to drink right before we eat. It is a nice change and makes eating more pleasant for me. We, as seems the same for everyone, cannot drink as we eat and have to wait 30 minutes after.

Iv had 3 bariatric surgeries, band/sleeve/bypass, have always been told drink as much as you want right up until the first bite of food, then stop for 30 mins after.

The reasoning is to keep the food in the pouch so the brain thinks it is very full. When we drink to soon the liquid dilutes the food in the pouch and moves it through too quickly then we get hungry again too soon. If we are eating dense Protein we should be full for 5 1/2 hours. there are videos on U-Tube that will show you the whole process.

Thanks @@debeade, the reasoning is understandable. I was curious what others have been told to do in regards to timing. I can't find any studies supporting 60 minutes versus 30 minutes.

I do 15/15. I still won't drink and eat at the same time. I know others post-op that do.

30/30 for my WLP too, but I take barely enough to moisten my mouth while eating. Two to three times bc if not everything feels harder to go down and I find I don't want to eat then. I have been fine and certainly don't over eat bc of it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
