Can I drink coffee during pre op diet?

Recommended Posts

Well I got the instructions for pre op diet from my surgeon and I didn't see a bit of coffee in the morning ????

It might sound silly for some people but me when I don't get my coffee in the morning at least a cup, I get Migraine and is horrible, I have to work and function, I am worry about the diet challenge but I am so afraid of not having a bit of coffee, please advise!

I didn't give it up and regretted it. It made my first week post op even more miserable because I had to go through caffeine withdrawls (migraines) in addition to experiencing nausea and pain from surgery. It's just not worth it. Weaning yourself off of caffiiene now little by little is the best way to go.

I gave up real coffee 2 weeks prior to my surgery, because I knew I wouldn't be able to have it afterward. I switched to decalf during those 2 weeks. I am only post op 2 days, but I don't crave coffee like I thought I would. I am craving Water...which seems very weird to me.

My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet other than Clear Liquids only the day before... Not sure if that is because might blood work looked good but the first surgeon i was scheduled with (who left for a job with Yale) said the same thing. But I definitely agree, I am definitely going to be having caffeine withdraws and probably won't be the nicest person without my coffee either!! You aren't alone in that, might be better to get used to it prior to surgery!

I switched to Decaf 2 months prior to surgery... It definitely satisfied me... Although it's decaf coffee there's still some type of caffeine in coffee... I got surgery 10days ago nd I still drink my decAf coffee with skim milk and Splenda... I'm happy and satisfied... You should try it

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
