My concern is after the surgery the amount of skin in my abdominal area hanging over. Have anyone here have this concern or talk to your doctor about this?

I do not think there is a single person who has gone through this surgery that does not end up with loose skin around their tummy. It all depends on your age, whether you have had children, how heavy you are to begin with and how much you choose to exercise during the weight loss phase whether or not you will be able to tighten this up some.

I will tell you honestly that this was the least of my worries as I went into this surgery. I knew that would be the case but the trade off of good health was way more important. Now that I have lost quite a bit of weight, I have that issue as well as lots of loose skin in my arms, butt and legs. I exercise, am 52 and realize that I will probably have to have some plastics to improve those areas when my weight stabilizes. I am 100 percent ok with it and was going in to surgery.

Good luck to you, I am guessing you too will find this is not the most important thing to be concerned about. I am guessing your weight has caused more serious issues and if not, it certainly will in the future.

That area is called the pannus and some insurance companies will pay for its removal depending on how many inches it hangs over pubic bone and what kind of uncomfortable conditions arise as a result think yeast, chaffing, odors, infections....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
