When Does the Bad Breath Stop?

Recommended Posts

I'm four weeks out of surgery and my breath is really awful. I know this is down to ketosis and a lack of carbs.

But it really is posing a problem in work and in my personal life. Can someone please tell me that this will go away? And when?

I am now having to sneak into the bathroom at work to brush my teeth about five times a day and trying to make sure I'm far away from people in meetings, but that doesn't always work.

Is this something that is a permanent feature of a low carb diet? Or is it something that the body adjusts to?

Mine went away after I went to "real" food. It was better during the pureed stage. I found that Cinnamon or Wintergreen Breath Savers were a great help. They are SF and pretty strong. I would suck on half of one and either throw it away or save the other half for later. I would place it in the lid of a Water bottle to save it.

Thanks - did it go away right away when you started real food or did it take some time?

i still have it, i use sugar free breath drops, and trader joes has some great sugar free mint that are strong and i like em. i also keep mouthwash in my office as well as toothbrush etc. but mints and the sugar free drops help a lot. i use the mouthwash without alcohol, i dont need to burn my mouth out lol. good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
