Severe pain 8 days post op

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I was wondering is anyone else has experienced increasing pain instead of decreasing pain after the surgery. My pain has gotten worse on the left side and now it radiates to my back. The burning sharpness of it makes it almost impossible to get up without screaming. Is this normal?

No, that isn't normal. You need to call your surgeon.

Jeannbe1 what did they say? I'm 4 days post op and today is worse. Mine doesn't radiate to my back but hurts like crazy when I stand up.

I had pain on my left side too from the incision. I don't remember my back hurting though, but I did have a lot of trapped gas too and that was more painful than my incision.

Hi all, thanks for all the advice and responses. I have to go to the surgeon tomorrow to get a block- lido&marcaine . I figured out that the pain I have is nerve related (I am a critical care RN). I knew that having this kind of severe pain wasn't normal, I just couldn't differentiate the pain. Hopefully that works. They told me an internal suture was probably up against a nerve

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
