Severe pain 8 days post op

Hi all, I was wondering is anyone else has experienced increasing pain instead of decreasing pain after the surgery. My pain has gotten worse on the left side and now it radiates to my back. The burning sharpness of it makes it almost impossible to get up without screaming. Is this normal?

  • I had pain on my left side too from the incision. I don't remember my back hurting though, but I did have a lot of trapped gas too and that was more painful than my incision.

  • No, that isn't normal. You need to call your surgeon.

Jeannbe1 what did they say? I'm 4 days post op and today is worse. Mine doesn't radiate to my back but hurts like crazy when I stand up.

Hi all, thanks for all the advice and responses. I have to go to the surgeon tomorrow to get a block- lido&marcaine . I figured out that the pain I have is nerve related (I am a critical care RN). I knew that having this kind of severe pain wasn't normal, I just couldn't differentiate the pain. Hopefully that works. They told me an internal suture was probably up against a nerve
