What is most common reason people revise from VSG to RNY?

Recommended Posts

I was scheduled to have RNY surgey back in October and days before surgery it was cancelled due to some unusual test results. I have severe GERD and therefore RNY was presented as my only option. I am now seeing a new surgeon and at my first apt he suggested that the sleeve might be a possibility but he wanted to consult with my GI specialist and he said we could always revise to RNY if needed. I really do not want to have surgery twice so I am curious to hear from those who have had revisions from sleeve to bypass what the reason was.

I went in asking to have the sleeve but was experience bad bout of acid reflux that day and she said she really did not recommend the sleeve because it can make the acid reflux worse. It took me a while to come around to the idea of bypass, but I am finally there. I really don't want to have a revision later either and plus I'm tired of the acid reflux and given bypass can essentially cure that, then I am ready to go with bypass. (PS - those I have known that had the revision was due to either reflux and/or weight gain.)

I had the sleeve to RNY revision because after my sleeve my reflux got really bad. Having to have surgery twice was no fun. I would really consider having RNY if you already have reflux.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
