I'm at 3 months out, and am down 49lbs (includes pre-op loss), and according to the dietician, am right on track. The sleeve is supposed to help people lose about 65 percent of their excess body fat, if that helps. And that would be in the first year. After that, I understand it is up to us. Good luck to you!

Hard to say. There are so many variables on how any individual's weight loss goes..age, starting weight, gender etc...there are quite a few on this site who have lost that amount in 6 months for sure! I am almost 7 months post op and have lost almost 60. But I'm a little older and my BMI was just under 40 when I had surgery, so I think those factor in a little.

I am 4 months post op and down 48 pounds and my bariatric team said I am above average for % of excess weight lost at this point of recovery. I have lost 40% of my excess body weight.

I saw my surgeon today for our final visit and to send everything to the insurance.. This was one of my questions and he did tell me that you should lose 60% of your excess weight in the first 6 months.. His example was easy to understand.. If you are overweight (using BMI and height/weight chart) by 100 pounds and do EVERYTHING you are directed to, you should expect to lose 60 lbs in the first 6 months..

Naturally there are oodles of variations and circumstances that can make your loss more or less, but that's the gist.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
