Thick saliva and sweet taste in mouth

Recommended Posts

Since surgery and even before, while on the 1200 calorie and 2-day liquid pre-op diet, I have had extremely thick and frothy saliva and a sickly sweet taste in my mouth.

I had surgery on February 25, 2015. No complications. Was on full liquids for two weeks and just moved on to pureed foods as of March 11. For Protein I use Muscle Milk chocolate, J-Robb vanilla, and Isopure clear Grape. Other protein comes from yogurt and cottage cheese.< /p>

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, has a doctor told you what it might be?

Id call your doctors office and talk to one of the nurses. Do you/did you have diabetes? It kind of sounds like it might be a complication from that, if so.

I have had the same sweet taste pre-op but I am not diabetic. I have assumed it was ketosis. If it is really concerning, check with your doctor and make sure everything is ok.

I have had thick and foamy saliva and discovered that it happened when I ate too fast.

@@Liz5012 So, I cut out the pre-sweetened Protein drinks and stopped eat "sugar-free" foods. I have totally eliminated fake sugar from my diet and the slimy saliva and foamy saliva problem in gone. It feels good not to have a slimy mouth! I'm glad I figured it out. It was driving me bananas! Now I am just dealing with extreme fatigue! The nurse told me today to drink Gatorade and eat fruit...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
