Well, I Went Swimsuit Shopping

  • Popular Post

Yesterday, my poor husband and I went to a bunch of different stores in an attempt to find a bathing suit for me. We are going to Tennessee with my parents, my aunt, and my sister's whole family (husband and 4 kids) at the end of March. There's a hot tub at the cabin we're sharing and I wanted to be able to use it! But that meant finding a bathing suit that wouldn't strike terror into the hearts of the young children that will be present.

Guys, despite my almost 75 pounds weight loss now, shopping for a swim suit was still a MISERABLE experience. My leg/thigh situation is quite tragic and while they have all sorts of clever ways of covering and slimming tummies, they have very few solutions for the loose skin, cottage cheese, huge thigh situation I have going on. I decided I really wanted boy shorts, because even though they accentuate my already huge hips, they do a little to "control" the upper thigh region. Unfortunately, boy shorts seem to be "out" this year in favor of 101 million varieties of swim skirts.

We finally found something I could live with just as Kohl's was closing last night. The top is a little big (my choices were a 16 or an 8), but it should be fine. I was a little bummed to have to get a tankini top instead of a bikini top, despite my awesomely flat stomach, because my VSG scars are still highly visible. :(

Hopefully next year I can go with the bikini top.

What a harrowing day!

Try Hydrochic.com They focus on modesty suits for those who want more coverage. They are very popular with those who want more coverage for religious reasons. I haven't been there in a while so their suit may actually have too much coverage for you, but it's an option.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I had the best luck finding suits at target. I could never find regular clothes there but have always been able to get swim wear. I got my step-daughter swim shorts there this season.

It just doesn't get any better. I've gotten down to a size 2-4 and the only suits they make in those sizes are skimpy tiny bikini bottoms! I have way too much loose skin that needs to be covered for that! The boy shorts cut off at the wrong part of my thighs and the high waisted bikinis look odd on me too. I need a high cut brief of soemthing.

And Swimsuits for All is not, they only go down to a size 8!

Lands End goes down to a 2, LL Bean goes down to a 4. They have some nice suits.

Also, I found a nice pair of swim bottoms on Amazon- bike short length- goes to mid thigh, used them snorkeling last week & they were great-

@@JamieLogical , sorry to hear about the illness, better luck in 4 weeks.

Lands end is my absolute go to for swim suits. They have suits with underwire and compression to keep the girls where they belong and the jiggles contained. They also aren't trying to show off everything I have and then some. Make sure you check for coupon codes. No sense paying full price if you don't have to!

I have to go shopping for a new suit this year..and I really like the high wasted 2 piece ones ..but I have back boobies :( and I don't know if it will work out like I want it to lol

I ordered a few bikini separates for my vacation in May. BUT, I'll be wearing a rash guard shirt over the top. I just knew that I could get the best "lift" out of a bra size bikini top.

They also have bra sized tankini tops! They have loose fronts and cover all that a one piece does but more loosely!

I actually ordered one of those too, but the rash guard also covers the bat wings. ;)

I have been wearing nylon spandex capri's over my bathing suit bottoms for years, and I love the racer-back tankini suits......
