I am going to my pcp on the 2 of march to get a letter for the gastric surgeon. Im worried because I dont know if she would approve it. I have health alliance hmo which does cover bariatric surgery.. I am 60 yrs old have a 38 bmi an diabetic type 2 (taking Insulin) Has anybody had their pcp refuse to recommend the surgery?

also I have tried doctor supervised weightlos in the past including phentermine. do you think this would qualify or will I have to go thru another 6 months of supervised weight loss

I know everybodys case is different but I am wondering if anybody encountered these situations and how they were dealt with. really feel that this is what I need to become healthy again and reduce any complications as I age. so I am a bit anxious about dealing with my PCP

i had that problem due to the fact my PCP was affiliated with a different hospital group than where i went to have my surgery. it took me a week of calls and in-person visits before i finally got him to relent and write me a letter. Thing is he id t when i told him he doesn't have to refer me or recommend my surgeon, just state that he recommends the procedure. That worked just fine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
