Anyone approved without co-morbidity with BCBS Federal?

Recommended Posts

Hi there - I am half way through the 3 month process of nutritional counseling and appointments. I have a BMI of 37. My sleep study results came back negative for sleep apnea - which is a SHOCK. I have all of the symptoms of sleep apnea and snore so loudly my husband can't sleep in the same room unless he falls asleep first. No HBP or diabetes.

I spoke with the insurance coordinator (who I have found is very knowledgeable and great) yesterday and asked her if I should even pursue this further. I don't want to spend $$ on the nutritional classes and psych eval if there is not chance to get approved. Every medical practice is a business - I'm concerned they might want me to continue just to make money on patients in the pre-approval phase.

Any advice would be appreciated!!!

I'm curious, where did you have your sleep study? I was VERY surprised when I was not diagnosed with sleep apnea, as my husband says it scares him when I stop breathing while sleeping, and there have been several instances when I jerked myself awake trying to catch my breath.

and I know what you mean about the nutrition classes. I paid for mine in full last July & I'm still trying for approval. I don't know if all practices do this?

I got the study done at Alexandria Inova on Seminary Road. Pam suggested I make an appointment with a doc there to do a consult and see if we should re-do the study.

Do you have any joint pain ? My bmi was well over 40 but my Dr put don't joint pain also. How about depression or hypothyroidism? She also put those down on my sheet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
