I had my sleeve on Feb. 19 and I feel great! I went on an outing today to Ulta, costco, etc. My sister took me. It was about 2 hours and I was a little worn out after that!! I am on full liquids and see my surgeon on Tuesday and think he will advance me to soft foods. My biggest issue has been a dry mouth. I am getting in 64 ounces+ of fluids, but it's still dry!

I was sleeved on 2-19. My pre-sleeve weight was 219, I was 208 yesterday (last day of Feb). I am on full liquids, though I cannot tolerate much. Taking sips of Water. Am back to work, part-time. I am an RN and requested to go home on blood thinners, which I have 6 more days. I am starting exercise tomorrow...cycling 1 mile at the gym every day this week is the goal. I am back on Wednesday for my 2 week follow-up.

My issues are not physical. Mine are mental. I feel very fragile emotionally....going between being very sad and very angry. I spoke to a friend who was sleeved 9 months ago. He is a psy. nurse practitioner and says that without "food to grab to numb my emotions, my emotions are coming to the surface." That this will pass in time. I am really seeing how much I misused food...I knew it, but having this done and not being able to overeat has highlighted it. On some levels I am sick and ashamed at myself because this state had eroded some very important relationships and credibility in my life. I cannot go back...I must move forward, is all I can do...but I really feel raw. If I were to write a book today the title would be "Cut to the Bone."

You all sound like you doing well. Has anyone besides me had an emotional response?

Helen

Helen,

I am having a hard time emotionally as well. I was sleeved on the 23rd and I never realized how much of my life revolved around food. I do not regret my decision to do it but I never realized how hard it was going to be to adjust my relationships with people as well as food.< /p>

I was sleeved on the 23rd but also had a substantial hiatal hernia repair. The first couple of days I had intense referred pain in my shoulders with each swallow, every breath from my diaphragm.

It faded by Thursday. I can swallow with only a slight hitch as it passes through. 60oz of Water and 3 Protein Shakes today. The chewable Multivitamins make my sleeve clench.

I went off narcotics the day after surgery, as the liquid caused such intense spasms that I thought I'd have to return to the hospital. I stopped Tylenol Friday and am back to driving since my abdominal pain is gone and the muscles don't hurt to turn fast or stomp on the brakes.

My current challenge is that my sleeve has a tendency toward strong spasms when empty. I get to advance to cottage cheese, yogurt, and eggs tomorrow.

I have been struggling emotionally as well. I did not expect to mourn food the way I have. I dream of food.

I've had the emotional struggles too. I feel like I'm having to break up with food. I miss it and the comfort it used to bring me, but I know I'm better off without using it in this unhealthy way.

I'm also starting to wonder if I'm dehydrated. I've been feeling physically crappy, weak, and now have had a headache for 2 days (though I used to get bad headaches pre-op too). I've been drinking but not enough. I'm contemplating going to an urgent care center for IV fluids.

I had my sleeve on 2/10/15. Had a rough start and I too am afraid of losing my hair. I still find it hard to get in all the Protein. I'd love to join the Facebook group. The support is awesome on here. I'm down 20 pounds so far. Should it be more though?

I was sleeved on 2/18. I have been doing great. No problems so far. I wasn't able to drink the shakes after the first 8 days post surgery. I would have barfed if I swallowed another sip. I just ate greek yogurt until I went to the doctors yesterday and they said I could eat Protein. No puree! I just have to make sure I chew, chew, chew!!!. So far eggs and chicken work great. I was told if I tolerate the Protein I can start on soft veggies by Friday!!! I have only lost 12 lbs. post surgery. I know I will lose more once I can really move, not just walk. It is great to hear from everyone!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
