Feb 16th- Surgery Day!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the good wishes. I woke up in recovery pretty shabby! Pain & nausea was all I can remember. Haven't slept well in hospital. Have only had Water or ice chips since surgery. Think I will be in a happier mood when I get home. Really appreciated the well wishes. Hope the others went well!

I'm doing great but just today felt awake enough to post. I stayed 1 night in hospital and discharged about 3:39 on the 17th. Felt good to be in my bed. Sipping on Water, Protein Shakes. I'm having a hard time knowing if I'm hungry or if my stomach rumbles are nausea. My doc does a barium swallow test 2 days post op to make sure all this flowing correctly...they were and I got to see my itty-bitty stomach get full after 5 sips of barium! It really looks like a banana. Feeling stronger day by day! How are others?

I am wondering how everyone else is doing?? I had 2 nights in the hospital, took me a very long time to come out of anesthesia, so I felt like I lost one day. Am at home for night number 2, doing ok. Of course I want to feel great, but it will take time. i also ended up having a surprise hernia that had to be repaired, which I guess is not that uncommon. I have tried to cut back on the pain meds, and am going to the mall and walk for a bit this morning. Still following Clear Liquids, fear of eating anything more at this point. Right stomach pain is where I feel it the most. Also, waiting to have my first BM. Wish I would have worked out my arms more before surgery to build upper body strength to help getting in and out of bed. Hope everyone else had a successful surgery.

I was outpatient and doing really well. I went to the mall today to walk, walk, walk! First time I didn't want to see all of the mall! I haven't been in any pain except for today, but being nauseous those first 3 days were murder! Matter of fact, I am going to work Monday!

I had a surprise hiatal hernia as well. When I woke up in recovery I couldn't hardly take a breath. That was super scary. I had my surgery on the 18th. All the pain I have felt has been from the hernia repair and from intestinal gas. Gas x strips are the best! I have a hard time telling when I'm full so I'm having to measure everything more carefully. It also took 2 suppositories and an enema to get my bowels to wake up. My doctor did a great job 'deflating' me so I haven't had the shoulder pain most have. The 2 week diet wasn't as bad as I thought. I made my own broths so I got creative. I'm glad to have all these threads to read.

HEY GUYS!!!

So happy for everyone! We did it! We're officially sleeved!

Well.... I had a terrible time in the hospital lol Overnight 2 nights, couldn't stop vomiting blood (which I was told was normal by my dr) and just couldn't rid myself of the nausea. :( Took several different antiemetic(sp) meds and compazine was the last & only drug that stopped the vomiting. It was terrible. You don't realize how much you use your abs when you throw up, and then throw in 5 fresh incisions... yikes!!!

Feeling better every day now tho yay! :) No problems drinking or gas thankfully. I'm still having really bad pain at my largest incision site. Laying on my back with my abdominal binder, ice & a pillow on top of my belly is the most comfortable position I can be in. Still waiting to poop...lol stool softeners should hopefully kick in and get everything moving again. Pain meds cause Constipation and so does large amounts of Protein so that makes things a little tricky.

Even though I had a rough start, it's still the best decision I have ever made! I can't wait to see where I am in a month! Clothes are already starting to fit different :) :) :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
