DIET PEPSI calling my name...

Recommended Posts

I gave up all soda/pop almost 2 months ago and yesterday found a bottle in my storage room. I feel like it's beckoning me to go down and pour a big tall glass with ice!! I thought I had that beat awhile ago. I gave it up to prepare for my upcoming surgery!!

Treat that Pepsi like the ex who broke your heart. Pour it down the drain and tell it to never bother you again! :D :P

I used to drink 2-4 litres of diet soda a day. I stopped drinking soda about 4 months before my surgery as part of changing to a healthier lifestyle. I have to admit, getting out of the soda habit was harder than quitting smoking.

Now that I'm almost a year out from soda and smoking...the idea of them sounds good at times, but it passes very quickly. I actually enjoy the Mio and other liquid Water flavorings because I enjoy some of the subtle flavors.

I also found that not drinking 1/2 hour before and after meals was tough to get used to, but so much of what I do is simply habit and not necessity.

All these lifestyle changes are still just choices that we make. The farther you are from the day you made that change, the easier it gets.

Best of luck to you!

@@alwaysvegas I am also concerned about the Water drinking situation. I tend to be a gulper..not sure why, but I'm also trying to sip my Water now more just to get used to it. Do you find that you were thirsty post op? I am meeting with my surgeon tomorrow and will discuss this further with him...

Thanks for your input!!!

@@allyray , I had to drink while I ate, so giving up drinking was really, really scary to me. Surprisingly, I had no problems. I stop drinking 15 min. before I eat & drink 30 min. after.

The first month after your surgery you may only have a desire to sip, rarely have I heard this to be an issue. I've seldom heard of anyone having problems sipping early on. You'll do fine.

Oh lord, I miss seltzer and soda. I take sips here and there from my husband's sodas if we go out to eat, but I made him swear that the only sodas he would keep in the house would be the ones I think are disgusting (you'd have to pay me to drink root beer or Dr. Pepper). When all else fails, I will get a small coke slurpee from 7-11. But otherwise, I'm a flat beverage kind of girl now.

@Always Vegas how did you quit smoking? I'm currently only vaping but can't manage to kick the habit. I've smoked for almost 22 years and have never been able to quit. I am hoping to go down in the account of nicotine, but I just don't know what I'm going to do. Doc says he won't operate if I still smoke or even vape. So scared!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
