I'm soooo excited! It's been 4 days since my surgery and I've already lost 16lbs!!! I've been walking a bunch but am a little hesitant about what other exercises I should do so early post op. I don't want to tear/injure anything but I also don't want a whole lot of loose skin as I realize I'm losing quite rapidly and want to get the jump on things. Any suggestions?

Good job! Take it easy...you should really only be doing walking at this point. Ask your surgeon next time you see him when you can be cleared for more exercises.

I don't want to be a downer, just realistic. Your weight loss will slow down and even (gasp!) stall. Weight loss is very rapid at first, but soon it will even out. It is still quicker than without surgery, but you aren't going to lose 16lbs in 4 days every week ;) You worry about staying hydrated right now and working on getting your Protein and wait until the doctor clears you for more exercises :)

Could be...especially a man. And as a rule, the more you weigh, the more weight you lose in the early weeks and even months. But like I said, it does and will even out eventually. That's why they call the first 6 months or so the "honeymoon period" ;)

Lenci congratulations on your 16lbs. Gives me something to look forward to. Does anyone know if insurance covers the surgery of removing the extra flappy skin due to the fast weight loss?

Do you loose any weight at all just from the surgery? Like right after you get the surgery do you weigh less than you did before?

Whatever the weight that your removed stomach would weigh..LOL

A doctor (not my doctor) told me to make sure ahead of time to tell my physician that I get bad rashes on my skin. This makes it easier for the doctor to show a history of skin problems and can be used to get many insurance companies to pay for skin removal. Next time you see your doc, talk with them about every rash and irritation you've ever had, and you can tell them to make sure those concerns are in your permanent chart.

I don't know if this works all the time, but it's what I was told and advise I've followed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
