I eat salad, with spinach, not lettuce. I include garbanzos, cheese, hardboiled egg, minced ham or chicken, red peppers cut well, shredded carrots, mushrooms, and crispy onions (not the fried ones). I've had no problem (sleeved 1/19/15). I make a salad of the stuff without the spinach and then add the spinach when Im ready to eat. the mix lasts several meals and this way the spinach doesn't get limp.

I eat steamed broccoli and cauliflower and have no problem with those either.

FWIW, I started exercising around week with just walking and resistance bands. I'm now doing some aerobics and mini tramp. I'm doing beginner belly dancing for core strengthening - slow and Fluid (and I'm HIDEOUS! but it does feel good) I don't currently belong to a gym. I may rejoin later when I'm ready for heavier workouts. I'm feeling good.

I'm really impressed with some of the veggies and salad stuff you guys are able to get in! I'm just not there yet...my restriction is still too great. I couldn't meet my Protein goals if I ate that much non-protein. Boooo. But it'll get there eventually, i guess. I'm trying to work veggies that have been well-cooked in where I can, but it's still very little.

I'm exercising regularly and working in strength training, though...and doing things like squats when I'm filling my water bottle, and getting up from my desk to run up and down the steps a few times during the workday. Every little bit helps!

I am working out daily now. 30-45min of strength one day and moderate cardio the next. I don't think extreme or excessive exercise at this point is necessary. Just being active and moving! I am focusing on toning loose skin though, through yoga and core building. I'm thrilled with my steady weightloss, so far and can't what to hit goal!

I've always made myself go to the gym, even on my heaviest days but I actually get excited about it now and really enjoy seeing how well my body performs weighing less. ????

I like to use Greek yogurt ( clean and have protein.) dressings, lemon juice or basalmic and olive oil. :)

I definitely eat salad cause most meats sit on my stomach like bricks and need some food. I use baby spinach and just have cheese and some really small cubes ham or shredded chicken cause those I seem to be able to hold down otherwise I will cook a soy burger or chicken patty and cut it up to put in my salad. I use a dressing that is no carbs and sugar. I just ran out and can not remember the name to it. I work out 4-5 times a week doing 90 mins of cardio and work out with a trainer for strength twice a week. I started doing yoga to help my core strength but I don't love it. Honestly I was hoping I would of lost more but I would of never lost this much without the surgery so can I really complain? Nah...so I'm not complaining just would love to have a lil more. I'm super jealous of you guys that are so close to goal but then again you nipped your weight in the butt before it got to my amount! Good for you!

Well on my year anniversary I'm having a full body lift and I need to get myself in the best shape possible. It is a concern of mine to still have on so much excess weight and go with my surgery and not be in top shape. It is a struggle for me to go to the gym and push myself so hard but eating is easy...changing that and fixing what I ruined it hard!

Anybody have hair falling out? Mine is getting worse now. Slow at first but more now.

I am just starting salads, just a few bites. I did eat an apple without the skin with a little cheese with it. Yummy!

I still find a Protein Drink the easiest to drink if I'm in a hurry. Yesterday in a hurry, ate some chicken too fast and back up it came. Sitting down and chewing 2-3 oz of chicken takes to long. But I'm sure not hungry for a long time after that.

Not much more exercise than pre-surgery but I have so much energy now, I am moving around a lot more. Instead of sitting all the time.

I took a break from bleaching and got a bob and do a deep conditioner every week. I make sure I don't stress and get those Vitamins in. I don't have Hair loss yet but just in case I'm trying to make it an easy transition. I feel like a pig when I hear that some of you are still taking these lil baby bites and only can eat 2-3 bites and are full. lol the whole month of March I basically could eat 4oz and be fine. I can't eat most meat but everything else I'm ok with. Oh well....maybe I should just do the pouch test to get a grasp on my Portion Control.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
