I saw a clip of myself on a video at church and could not believe that HUGE lady was me!!!! I cried all day and really need to have surgery immediately!!! I can NOT believe I let it get this out of hand! When I look into the mirror I don't look that large! ????

I can relate. Many times I'll see a photo of myself and will be in disbelief it is me. <>

I think you'll find many of us on here who have been faced with that same shocking realization. I too look in the mirror and know I'm heavy but look "okay" only to see pictures later and am MISERABLE at how awful I look --- from the middle-age-man gut to thunder thighs and everything else. you're at a supportive helpful place --- best wishes in your WL journey!

You're not alone! I feel the same way!! My grandkids were playing a Dance Moves game on their Xbox one. I walked through the room where they were dancing, & the Kinect video recorded me walking through, and I seen it because it does a partial playback when their done. I didn't like what I seen either! I'm ashamed of myself, & how I didn't think about what I was doing to my body & my health! It makes me want this surgery so much more! I'm counting down the days!

I totally understand! I normally don't see myself as heavy as I am....in fact in my dreams I'm a skinny girl!! But every now and then I see a picture and am so sad. I wonder sometimes if that will go away when I've lost down to my goal or if I will always be surprised....

This is exactly how I feel. What a shock when I saw the photos. I cannot wait until I'm post surgery and more active.

You are not alone! My mirror is a liar! I get so depressed when I see pics of myself! That is the reason for me having surgery, it is affecting my life! I won't even take family pics!

When I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea, I had not weighed myself in years. I thought I'd weigh about 240. I weighed 285! I gained more after that.

I don't even have a "before" pic (except my driver's license) because I deleted any/all pics of me when I thought I'd never lose the weight.

We all have our breaking points and reasons for finally getting the surgery. Many great threads on here about that.

Best of luck on your journey! There is a healthy life waiting for you!

I understand how you feel. I feel the same way, somehow I always felt like I was smaller than I am until I saw myself in pictures, I was mortified and so ashamed. Hang in there at least we are taking steps to turn this thing around, that's what counts.

Ditto. I can't believe the woman on the left is me in this picture. I avoided cameras like the plague for years so I wouldn't have to be reminded. Good news is, there's hope in this tool! So grateful I used it to change my habits and my life!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
