My Dr's post op diet EXTREMEMLY conservative

Recommended Posts

It seems as though my tolerance for each phase is 1 week! I am on day 6 of puree foods and I am so over it. I just want real food. I could not do 4 weeks of pureed foods!!! I dont even know if I can make 2 weeks of puree. Dying to go to the next phase :(

I also had 4 wks of liquids. However after that I skipped puree and was on 4 wks of soft foods. I was about ready to eat my arm when I finally got to chew.

I wasnt on a pre op diet so I guess I shouldnt complain.

Good luck. Weve all been there. Now (18 mths laater) its hard to remember

My surgeon is similarly conservative. But there is a reason! His outcomes are phenomenal - both for weight loss and SAFETY outcomes. Waiting to eat lessens the likelihood of having a leak or other complications (if I recall correctly, it's been a while!).

It was hard, I won't lie. But in the scheme of things, it's just a few months. You won't even remember it in a year or two.

I can look back now and recognize that what I thought was hunger in the early days was reflux, and I should have been taking my acid reducers more often!

There was a time when people went on all-liquid diets for months (Oprah, for example) as a weight loss method. According to my doctor, if I took my Vitamins and drank my Protein Drinks, I would be perfectly healthy. It's only about short term discomfort.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
