Why can't I just stop? (Eating until it hurts)

Recommended Posts

At this point I'd say it's your brain being hungry and not your stomach... If you're eating too much, do what someone else told me to do... Go buy those plastic baby forks and spoons and the small bowls that hold no more than a 1/2 cup... If the food is in a smaller plate/bowl, the food looks bigger.. Make sense, also by eating with smaller utensils you manage how much you eat. Measuring is key. Measure your food out and if you find your still "pushing" to the point of hurting, cut back to 1/3 cup. Measure it out, set the timer like I do, and every two minutes take a bite. Timers are another thing all together that's very important. Hope this helps, sure helped me. Sleeved 12-4-2014. Ima newbie but i got a lot of advice that seems to work for me at support groups. Speaking of which find a support group near you that you can attend in person regularity, it helps too.

I had surgery in late October, so I'm a relative novice, myself. I have the same problem as you do. I told my husband that I have three modes: hungry, eating, and in pain. Nothing else.

What I've found works best is regulating the amount of food on my plate. I always eat out of ramekins for bowls and saucers for plates when I'm at home. Out, I order tapas, Soups, or small appetizers.

If it's on my plate, I'll try to eat it, unless I'm actually in pain.

It's challenging, but it's better than starting a new year 10 lbs up (or more) from where I was last year. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
