I'm scheduled for January 22nd at University of Illinois in Chicago...2nd day of pre-op diet. I am hoping to get some buddies! :) I'm nervous, excited and quite frankly hungry. I just need to remind myself how fabulous I will look and feel. That I will be able to eat and enjoy food again- just less. I ran into a girl at the hospital yesterday. She has lost almost 100 lbs in 8 months. She was just beaming and so happy.

I'm January 27 and I am just ready for it to already be over. All I do is think about food, whether it's eating it or not eating it. :(

@@Diane Grimm I totally understand. I just want a slice of cheese and ham, but I know I can't. lol...I don't like this pre op diet. Others do it for 1 week and can eat non starchy veggies. Mine is 2 weeks, no solid anything. I heard the first few days is the hardest...I hope! The good news is that I heard you don't feel this crazy hunger after surgery. 2 weeks of suffering...lifetime of happiness. :)

My husband had the surgery 8 weeks ago, he is already down 65 lbs. I am so excited to join him. Right now when we are out and about I feel like people are saying "look at the handsome man with that short fat woman" and my only retort at the moment is that I'm not short he is just freakishly tall (6'8"). I wanna be a hottie too!!

I just had a sugar free popsicle. It seems to help. I drink the carnation instant Breakfast. I can have 5.5 packets a day with milk. I'm not a fan of broth, but I bought it in case I'm dying for something with a little salt. Day 8? That's great! You can do it! @@Diane Grimm

I think it depends on the dr. Weight lost prior to surgery, etc. My dr/ins wanted a 5% weightloss and goes by the south beach diet. Pre op diet for me is just phase 1 of south beach.

Congrats on your date and good luck!!

Day 3 of pre op diet. I'm pretty hungry and less active. I discovered sugar free Popsicles a real help though. Takes some hunger pain away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
